ELLIE HAS NEVER felt so alone. Tears started rolling down her cheek as she watched the boat leaving with Abby and the little asian boy on it. She could see blood mixing with water as she firmly held her fingers.

It hurt. But what hurt the most was her heart breaking.

She missed Joel.

And she knew this wasn't what Joel would've wanted. Joel would've wanted peace for Ellie, so she decided to let Abby go and give up on revenge.

Ellie saw herself and Joel in Abby and Lev. And she quickly realized she was about to tear another family apart if she did this. She wouldn't wish this type of pain on anyone.

Ellie had to break this cycle of violence, she had to break the wheel. And she chose not to become a monster.

Ellie kept seeing Joel's face, she kept hearing his voice. The sound of him playing guitar, the sound of their laughs. She kept sobbing as she felt her clothes getting more soaked. She wished Joel was here.

And it hurt so bad, she felt livid and empty. Like she couldn't feel anything anymore, and for a second she wondered what was her purpose in life? What was she going to do now? She doesn't have anyone left.

And this is when she heard movement in the water, right behind her. Ellie didn't move an inch before she felt a hand resting on her shoulder. A familiar scent came caressing her nose.

"El..." Ayesha said as she crouched down in the water.

Ellie didn't look at her, she thought that in this moment, nothing could comfort her.

"Get out of the water... You'll get soaked." Ellie warned between some sobs, but it was already too late.

"Ellie, you're bleeding." Ayesha cut her off.

She grabbed Ellie's hand before bandaging it as Ellie started groaning in pain.

And Ellie wondered why she was doing all this? It was like her guardian angel, always watching after, making sure she's safe.

Ayesha stood up, not wanting to stay any longer, Ellie might want some time alone. The brunette heard the water moving as Ayesha got out of it.

And for a second, Ellie realized she couldn't stay alone. She needed someone to rely on.

Ellie looked at her bandage, trying not to get it wet. Would Ayesha be the one Ellie was going to rely on? Because Ellie needed that. She needed someone.

She needed someone to finally grieve.

And remember Joel for longer than she has known him.

...

AFTER ABOUT THREE weeks travelling together across America, Ellie and Ayesha finally got to Wyoming, safe and sound though they unfortunately encountered some infected and clickers.

Travelling with Ellie felt weird, they didn't have much conversation like they used to have. Yet they both knew they enjoyed each other's company though they never said it to each other. Ellie just thought it was good to have someone to rely on during those hard times.
