"YOU SEEM SOMEWHERE else, what's up with you?" Jesse asks Ayesha before taking a sip of orange juice.

Ayesha frowns before turning her attention to Jesse.

"No, what's up with you? You usually grab breakfast with your girl, what are you doing here sitting next to me?" Ayesha frowns.

"I dunno, she ignores me all the time. Why would I make efforts if she doesn't?" Jesse scoffs.

"Agreed." The woman tilts her head to the side.

Ayesha didn't dare tell Jesse, but she could feel their break-up coming slowly but surely.

"So, will you tell me what's keeping your mind so busy?" Jesse slides his elbow on the table.

"I don't know," the dark-haired woman sighs, "something weird happened yesterday with Maria but I can't tell you."

Jesse's eyes widen as he stands speechless, as if he'd just been betrayed, leaving Ayesha confused.

"You can't tell me something happened but not tell me what happened. This is worse than a cliffhanger in a movie."

"Watch me doing it." Ayesha smiles sarcastically.

Jesse replies only by rolling his eyes, suddenly freezing, a wry smile at the corner of his lips, as if he'd just had a diabolical idea.

"If you don't tell me, I will tell everyone you kissed Ellie." The Asian says and Ayesha's heart drops.

Her eyes widen, her heart misses a few beats as hundreds of questions run through her mind. She nudges Jesse.

"Shut it. How do you even know?" She's genuinely worried, because if Jesse knows, does somebody else know?

And Jackson is a small town, so rumors travel fast here.

"I am messing with you, Ellie told me. But don't worry your secret's safe with me. I'll be as dumb as a tomb." Jesse stifles a laugh.

Obviously, Ellie talked to him about it. They're good friends, why wouldn't she?

"Look, her and I talked about it and we both decided it meant nothing." Ayesha really wants to clarify everything before Jesse starts to get some weird ideas.

"Sure..." He said as Ayesha suddenly sees someone sitting on the stool right next to Jesse.

It's Temika, the little girl David was bothering the other day. The child rests both elbows on the table while turning to Jesse, who finally notices her presence. He smiles at the little girl.

"Hi." Temika says.

"Hey, is David bothering you again?" Jesse asks.

"No, he stopped because Ayesha scares him." Temika admits, Ayesha's smile drops.

Jesse set his eyes on Ayesha, the young man trying as best he could to hold back his giggles.

"You wanna know why he picks on you? Because he likes you." Ayesha tells Temika.

The little girl winced, not imagining for a second that she could love or even date a boy like David.
