Theresia's POV:
Resting in my bed, feeling down after what happened earlier. I didn't expect the mayor to be that inconsiderate. She thinks that everything can be solved by money. I feel uncertain about whether I can continue working with her. Just the thought of working with her makes me uneasy after what happened.
The phone rings... It's Mayor Alice calling.
"What is it this time?" I wonder. I hesitate to answer the call, but before I can reach the phone, the call stops.
The thoughts in my mind tell me that people like her saying sorry would be a miracle. I turn off my phone and try to sleep.
Mayor Alice's POV:
After the incident with Attorney, I couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt. I never intended for things to escalate that way. Maybe I let my personal perception take over me.
I realize now that my actions have consequences beyond what I initially perceived. I decided to call her to give my sincere apology.
Calling attorney... as I am calling her, I suddenly think I can't. I don't know what to say to her, so I end the call before she could answer it.
As I reflect on the situation, I understand that saying sorry isn't just a word; it's a gesture of humility and acknowledgment of my mistakes. I must find a way to bridge this gap and mend the strained relationship. Perhaps it's time to reassess how I approach these professional interactions.
Meeting her in person would be good so I can talk to her.
Fast forward, two days have passed, and Mayor Alice and Attorney Theresia still haven't had any communication.
Mayor Alice's POV:
I am currently at my office, engrossed in work. It almost slipped my mind that today is Attorney Cruz's birthday. Thankfully, my secretary reminded me.
I need to wrap up my tasks as the party starts at 8 pm. I find myself pondering whether Attorney Theresia will attend. Hopefully, she does so we can work on resolving our conflict.
Theresia's POV:
I am at the store buying gifts when I receive a message from my godfather, Attorney Cruz.
"Theresia, I am expecting you at my birthday party later. I will wait for you, dear. Take care."
How could I forget the birthday of my favorite ninong? I've already bought a gift for him.
Fast forward...
Mayor's POV:
I arrived just in time, wearing a black dress with a slit. As I entered the venue, I noticed many familiar faces, most of whom were Attorney Cruz's colleagues.
Attorney Cruz spotted me and I approached him, exchanging besos.
"Happy birthday, Attorney," I greeted her.
"Thank you for coming, I know you're busy," he replied happily.
He offered me a seat beside him, saying, Enjoy the night, Mayor.
"Ang ganda dito, Mayor," Ate Gie exclaimed in surprise. "Yeah, she's always with me everywhere I go.
I sat at the table, observing the guests dancing and enjoying the night. Amidst the crowd, I searched for someone.
It seemed Attorney Theresia is not coming. I whispered softly under my breath, a tinge of disappointment coloring my expression.
"Sino hinahanap mo, Mayor?" Ate Gie teased.
