Theresia

It's been nearly a week since we last saw each other. Despite her frequent calls, there's a distinct joy in being able to see her and feel her warmth in person.

With no plans for the day, I felt a sudden urge to visit her. The mere idea of seeing her again filled me with excitement and happiness.

Since I skipped lunch, so I'll just buy something at the drive-thru and eat when I arrive at her office.

I'm just wearing my go-to outfit: a white shirt matched with pants and, of course, my stylish shades.

Knowing she likes stuffed toys, I picked out a pink one as a gift. Hopefully, she will like it.

It took me almost 3 hours to arrive in Bamban, Tarlac. I didn't inform her about my visit; it's a surprise. As I arrived at the municipal office, I noticed a unfamiliar car parked. I know which one is mayor's car; maybe it belongs to some of the staff there. I grabbed the gifts and food from the backseat. I headed in inside.

I bumped into Ate Gie on my way to mayor's office. She seemed shocked and tense when she saw me. It's quite unusual since she doesn't usually act like this when she sees me.

Good morning, Attorney, she greeted me, looking anxious.

Good morning din, Ate Gie. Where's mayor?" I asked her.

Umm, nasa office niya po yata? she replied, almost stuttering.

She's really acting weird today. I said to myself, wondering why she's unsure.

I heard the mayor's voice inside, having a conversation with someone. From the sound of it, it seems like a voice of a woman.

Curiosity hit me, so I handed my things to Ate Gie and knocked on the door.

A woman opened the door; I kind of remembered her. She's the same girl from that after-party, the one flirting with mayor. Question swirled in my mind, why is she here?

"Alice, you didn't tell me we had visitors," she said while calling mayor.

"Come in, Ma'am," she gestured, offering a strained smile.

I saw Alice holding a bouquet of flowers. She immediately placed it on the table. I could see the panic in her eyes.

She approached me, kissed my cheeks, and whispered, "You didn't inform me you were coming."

"Who is she, Alice?"

"Attorney, she is Mayor Donya of San Manuel. Dons, she is Attorney Theresia, my lawyer," she introduced me.

"Wow, the formality, Alice. You could have also said that I am your ex-girlfriend to make it complete," she said while laughing.

"Nice to meet you, Attorney Theresia," she said, moving closer, initiating a handshake.

"Nice to meet you too, Mayor," I replied.

"It seems you're about to have an important meeting. Perhaps I'm intruding," she remarked, directing a pointed look at Mayor Alice.

"I have to go, Alice. I have to do an inspection at the site in San Manuel."

"I see. Thank you for stopping by," Mayor Alice said, leading her to the door.

"Attorney, I have to go," she said.

I offered a polite smile.

Alice accompanied her outside, the atmosphere remained charged with unspoken words and unresolved emotions. The realization hit me like a wave, why she didn't tell me about this?
