Hello darlings!
So sorry for the haitus! I was having severe writers block and the stress of moving, mothering, and maintaining my small family's life was preventing me from doing so.. That being said, I've got a handful of chapters that I am hoping to get out in the next couple of days!
I will probably be bringing this book to a close soon, but fret not! I am planning on writing another book that will probably include more characters, but I haven't decided quite yet.
Thank you to everyone who has gotten this book to over 4k reads! It means the world to me, and I hope that everyone has been enjoying it! I want everyone to know that you matter, you are important, and no one can ever replace you! 😊
This chapter was requested by @MissAtheana19 . Thank you, my sweet, for requesting! If it weren't for you, we would not be getting new chapters anytime soon! I hope this chapter does your expectations justice! 💜💜

The days following the attack passed in a blur of heightened security measures and whispered reassurances. The manor's staff had doubled their efforts, ensuring every corner was meticulously checked and fortified. Ominis had barely left Y/N's side, his protective instincts on high alert. Though he had promised himself to give her space to recover, he couldn't shake the urge to check on her constantly.
It was late afternoon when Ominis sent a house elf to find Y/N and ask her to join him in his study. The elf returned quickly, leading Y/N through the familiar hallways to the heavy wooden door. She hesitated for a moment before knocking, her heart racing. The memories of the attack still haunted her, and she hadn't had a moment to truly process everything that had happened.
"Come in," Ominis called from inside, his voice steady.
Y/N opened the door and stepped inside. The study was filled with shelves of ancient books, the air rich with the scent of old parchment and candle wax. Ominis stood by the window, his wand resting on the surface of his desk. He turned as he heard her enter, a small, reassuring smile playing on his lips.
"Y/N, thank you for coming," he said, gesturing for her to join him.
She walked over, trying to compose herself. She could feel his misty eyes on her, their intensity unsettling yet oddly comforting as they bore into hers. There were times that she could have sworn that his blindness was merely a facade. "You wanted to see me?" she asked, her voice steady but lacking its usual warmth.
Ominis nodded, taking a step closer. "Yes, I, uh - wanted to check in on you. It's been a few days since the attack, and I wanted to see how you're doing. How you are truly doing."
Y/N forced a smile, her fingers gripping the fabric of her dress. "I'm fine, really. Just a bit shaken up, but I'll be alright."
Ominis tilted his head, his eyes narrowing slightly as he sensed the falsehood in her words. "Are you sure? It's perfectly understandable if you're not. What happened was traumatic, and it's alright to feel scared or unsettled."
Her smile faltered, and she looked away, her facade crumbling. She attempted to keep her voice steady; if anything was going to give her true feelings away, it would be that. "I... I don't want to burden you with my fears," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "You have enough to worry about."
Ominis stepped closer, gently taking her hand in his. "Y/N, your well-being is my priority," he said softly. "You're not a burden. You're my wife, and I've grown to care about you deeply."
She met his gaze, tears welling up in her eyes. "I've been having nightmares," she confessed, her voice trembling. "Every time I close my eyes, I see him. I feel his hands around my throat, and I can't breathe. I'm scared, Ominis. I'm so scared, but I know I shouldn't be."
Ominis's heart ached at her words. He squeezed her hand gently. "I'm sorry. I'll ask the staff to immediately brew you a dreamless sleeping draught.. Thank you for telling me," he said, his voice filled with empathy. "I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through, but I'm here for you. Always."
Y/N felt her emotions bubbling to the surface, overwhelming her. She tried to pull away, to escape the vulnerability that threatened to engulf her. "I... I should go," she whispered, turning towards the door.
Ominis held her back gently, his touch firm yet kind. "Please, don't go," he said softly. "Let me help you."
She looked up at him, her tears spilling over. "I feel so weak," she whispered.
"You're not weak," Ominis said firmly. "You're one of the strongest people I know. You fought back, and you protected yourself. That takes incredible strength and courage."
She looked up at him, her eyes searching his. "Do you really mean that?"
He nodded, his expression earnest. "Every word. And I'll do everything in my power to make sure you feel safe again."
Y/N felt a warmth spreading through her at his words. She hadn't realized how much she needed to hear that, how much she had longed for his reassurance. She took a few small steps towards him before snaking her arms around his torso, burring her face into his chest as she inhaled his calming scent. A small smile broke through her tears.
"Thank you, Ominis," she said softly. "You've been so kind to me, and I don't know how I'll ever repay you."
He smiled as he returned the hug, a sense of victory flooding his veins as he was able to create a deeper relationship with his mysterious wife. There was a tenderness in his embrace as he squeezed her tighter that made her heart skip a beat. "You don't need to repay me. I'm just glad to have you here, with me."
As they stood there, the weight of the past days slowly lifting, Y/N realized something. In the midst of her fear and pain, she had found something unexpected—comfort, safety, and perhaps, the beginnings of love. Ominis's presence, his unwavering support and kindness, had become her anchor. And as pulled back from their embrace, she looked into his eyes. There was something there that she hadn't seen ever - a spark of hope for the future.
Ominis gently wiped away her tears, his touch sending a shiver down her spine. "Let's take things one day at a time," he said softly. "We'll get through this together."
She nodded, feeling a sense of peace she hadn't felt in days. "Together," she echoed.
Ominis kept a protective hand on her back as he guided her to the door. "Would you like to take a walk in the gardens?" he asked. "I find that a bit of fresh air can do wonders."
She smiled, the idea of leaving the confines of the manor for a while sounding appealing. "I'd like that," she said.
They walked through the hallways side by side, their steps in sync. As they stepped outside, the late afternoon sun bathed the gardens in a warm, golden light. Y/N took a deep breath, feeling the tension in her body begin to ease.
Ominis kept a protective hand on her back, guiding her gently. "If there's ever anything you need, don't hesitate to tell me," he said. "I want you to feel safe and cared for."
She looked up at him, her heart swelling with gratitude. "Thank you, Ominis. I'm lucky to have you."
He smiled, his heart swelling with an unfamiliar warmth. "And I'm lucky to have you," he replied, his voice filled with sincerity.
As they walked through the gardens, surrounded by the beauty of nature, Y/N felt a sense of hope for the future. The attack had left its mark, but it had also brought them closer together. And in Ominis' gentle touch and kind words, she found the strength to face whatever came next.
