The Great Hall was alive with the usual end-of-year hustle and bustle. Slytherin banners in green and silver dominated the space, the house clearly in the lead for the House Cup. Students chattered and ate, eagerly anticipating the announcement. Dumbledore, at the head table, signaled Professor McGonagall, who tapped her glass with a spoon to call for attention. The room quieted instantly, and Dumbledore rose to address the gathered students.

Dumbledore: "Another year gone. And now, as I understand it, the house cup needs awarding. And the points stand thus: In fourth place, Gryffindor with 312 points."

Moderate applause came from the Gryffindor table, their faces a mix of hope and anticipation.

"Third place, Hufflepuff with 352 points."

Hufflepuff's applause was a bit louder, showing their pride and support for their housemates.

"In second place, Ravenclaw with 426 points."

Ravenclaw's cheers and claps were enthusiastic, their sense of achievement evident.

"And in first place, with 472 points, Slytherin house."

The Slytherin table erupted in a roar of celebration, students standing and clapping vigorously. Draco Malfoy smirked triumphantly, while Snape's approving gaze swept over his house. Y/N, sitting with Harry, Hermione, and Ron, clapped along with her housemates but kept her focus on her friends.

Draco: "Nice one, mate."

He sneered at Ron, clearly enjoying the moment.

But Dumbledore raised his hand for silence, his eyes twinkling as he continued, "Yes, yes, well done, Slytherin. Well done, Slytherin. However, recent events must be taken into account. And I have a few last-minute points to award."

The Gryffindor table's attention sharpened with hopeful glances.

"To Miss Hermione Granger, for the cool use of intellect while others were in grave peril, 60 points."

Hermione's eyes widened in surprise, and the Gryffindor table erupted into enthusiastic applause. Hermione looked around, her cheeks flushed with pride and astonishment.

Harry: [giving Hermione a pat on the back] "Good job."

Hermione glanced at Hagrid, who gave her a proud nod.

Dumbledore continued, "To Mr. Ronald Weasley, for the best played game of chess that Hogwarts has seen these many years, 55 points."

Ron looked equally astonished and pleased as the Gryffindor table's applause grew even louder. He exchanged grins with Harry and Hermione.

"And third, to Mr. Harry Potter, for pure nerve and outstanding courage, I award Gryffindor house 75 points."

The Gryffindor table erupted into wild cheers, their celebration louder than ever. Malfoy's expression turned sour as he watched the Gryffindor table's jubilation. Professor McGonagall's proud smile was unmistakable as she looked at Harry.

Hermione, quickly calculating, whispered to her fellow Gryffindors, "We're tied with Slytherin!"

Excitement and hope surged through the Gryffindor table as Dumbledore's voice rang out again.

"And finally, to Miss Y/N, for exceptional bravery and loyalty despite house rivalries, I award Slytherin house 30 points."

Y/N's eyes widened in surprise and she looked at her friends, who beamed at her. The Slytherin table gave a mixed reaction, their cheers tinged with grudging admiration as they realized the impact of the points.

Dumbledore clapped his hands together and with a wave of his wand, the Slytherin banners began to change. They transformed into vibrant red and gold with the Gryffindor lion displayed proudly.

Dumbledore: "Assuming that my calculations are correct, I believe that a change of decoration is in order. Gryffindor wins the House Cup."

The Great Hall erupted into raucous applause. Gryffindor students cheered wildly, their excitement spreading to Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, who were delighted to see Slytherin's long-standing streak come to an end. Hagrid couldn't contain his joy and joined the celebration, while Slytherin students, though disappointed, clapped politely.

Malfoy, fuming with frustration, slammed his hat onto the table in defeat.

Harry, surrounded by celebrating Gryffindors, looked at Hermione and Y/N, who was grinning despite the loss. Hermione had tears of joy in her eyes as she accepted congratulations from her fellow students. Y/N smiled at her friends, the unity and camaraderie among them evident despite their house differences.

Hermione: "I can't believe it! We actually won!"

Harry: "Yeah, we did. Amazing work, everyone."

As the Gryffindor students continued their celebration, Y/N felt a deep sense of satisfaction. The year had ended on an unexpected high, with victory and friendships shining through the competition. The unity among the friends was a testament to their strength and support for one another.
