You were stood in the room with Liam, his back to you. You ran over to him, reaching out to touch him, but your fingers never made contact with his skin. Instead they went straight through, as if you were a ghost. You tried multiple times but he didn't even flinch. He felt nothing.
"Liam can you hear me?" you asked, some hope still inside you. He continued what he was doing. You turned around, but the mirror was gone from the spot you expected it to be in. then she walked in, looking exactly like you. You could now see the differences between her and you. She looked older. Her eyes looking like they had seen the world. She dressed in a different way. Yes, she wore your clothes but it was different. She also spoke in a strange way, using phrases and sentences you never would.
Then you had an idea. She put you here to make you suffer more, but maybe she did actually set you free. You could continue walking for miles, explore the world. You could see all the things you had dreamed of seeing since you arrived. It would be lonely, but maybe if you were out there searching, you could find a solution. Other magic existed and perhaps it could help you. You left walking out of the front door and down the garden. You reached the gate, separating the road from yours and Liam's property. You opened it and stepped forward.
But you didn't end up on the road. You were facing the house, the gate closed behind you. Your feet were in the same position but the other way around, as if someone had rotated the slab you were stood on. Surprised, you spun around, opening the gate and stepping through again. You winded up facing the house. You were stuck.
You ran inside the house again, to see her with a smirk on her face. Of course she had planned everything. She knew what you were trying to do and couldn't believe you thought she would be that naïve. She had planned all of this, ever since the day you met when you were a teenager. The contract she had gotten you to sign wasn't very long, and you didn't read about this anywhere. You knew to get out you needed to find it, but how?
You watched them every day, making sure she never hurt him. Until the wedding was approaching. You couldn't let them get married, he would be bonded to her forever and who knows what wold happen to you. So you went upstairs and sat in the study you had decorated together. You spun around in the chair, trying to think of a way to stop it. Trying to think of a way to get back to that cave. You didn't want to return, after having spent endless nights and days in there, but you would do anything to get Liam back.
You heard footsteps coming up the stairs, so you faced the door, not bothering to get up. What was the point when they couldn't see you? Liam walked in, and headed to the desk, rummaging through the papers that were stuffed in there. You guessed he was either searching for something for work or for the wedding. You spun round on the chair again, returning to your thoughts. He paused, making you stop the chair in front of him. He backed away, an alarmed look spread across his features. He may not be able to see you, but he could see the chair moving.
Recognising this, you moved the chair closer to him, making him to stumble back. You were so happy you couldn't contain your laughter, smiling brightly at the clueless beta. Maybe this wasn't going to be as hard as you thought.
"Is someone there?" he asked, his eyes darting around, never focusing on you. You didn't have to be a werewolf to tell his heart was beating fast, he didn't know what was happening after all.
"Yes! Liam I'm here" you knew he couldn't hear you, but you answered anyway. You moved the chair closer to him, wanting to be closer to him again.
"Umm....knock three times if there is someone here." He stated, reciting what he'd seen people do on the TV.
You knocked on the desk three times, eagerly awaiting his next request. He grabbed a chair from the next room, obviously not wanting to disturb the 'possessed' seat. He sat in the doorway, as if he meant to block it. Although it didn't matter, you could walk straight through him.
"Okay... breathe Liam, everything's fine." He whispered to himself. You could sense his uneasiness and nerves, wanting to reach out and calm him. He shouldn't ever feel like this around you and you could feel you heart ache at the sight.
"Knock once for yes, twice for no. ok?" you knocked once. He nodded, as if he was working up some courage. You knew it was probably a lot to handle. The fear of the unknown is common, supernatural creature or not.
His mind was racing, trying to think of a question to not anger the spirit. Before he was bitten he wouldn't have believed in ghosts, but now he didn't know what existed and what didn't. He had to know if this thing was going to hurt him, if it was going to hurt y/n. He would do everything he could, even if it meant moving out of their 'dream' house. He couldn't risk losing her.
"Do you want to hurt me?" knock, knock.
"Do you want to hurt y/n?" there was a pause. Knock.
His heart stopped, waiting for a knock that never came. His blood boiled, the anger causing his claws to grow. Whatever it was wasn't going to lay a finger on her. But he knew getting angry may make it worse, so he fought to stay in control.
"Did she do something wrong?" knock.
"What did she do?" there was no answer, but of course it couldn't respond with yes and no to that. He needed to keep a level head.
"Are you going to hurt her?"
You didn't know how to respond. Yes you wanted to, but could you? You wished he had given you an option to say that you were unsure. She trapped you in a chasm, tricked you and stole your life. But that didn't mean she didn't deserve one.
When there was no answer he somehow understood.
"Knock once for yes, twice for no and three times if you don't know." Knock, knock, knock. There was something odd. It felt like he was now talking to a person instead of an evil spirit. There was a familiar feeling that made him feel tense, like he knew who it was.
"Are you a ghost?" knock, knock. So what was it? Maybe he should call Scott. He stood up, grabbing the phone and dialling the number he knew so well. It only rang a few times before he picked up.
"Scott?" he asked, walking over to the window to check that someone wasn't playing a prank.
"What's up Liam?" Scott replied. He could smell Liam's anxiety.
"I need your help..." he didn't know what to say. 'Help I think my house is haunted' sounded pathetic.
"With what, is everything okay?"
"Yes-no. I just need you to come over" he explained, not wanting to confess what the problem was on the phone in case Scott laughed and didn't come.
Scott arrived around half an hour later and Liam filled him in with all the knowledge needed straight away.
You were relieved Scott was there. If Liam couldn't find you, Scott would. She was acting like you would, as if she had studied you. You watched her interact with the pair. Liam acted normally, but Scott shifted around as if he was slightly uncomfortable. Maybe he could tell something wasn't quite right?
They sat in the office, thinking of questions. You hovered by the wall, using that to knock on.
"Are you trapped?" Scott asked. Knock. They both looked at each other, less scared than they previously were.
"Do you need help?" knock. It continued like this for a while, asking all sorts of questions. But you knew they were no closer to finding out the truth. Then Scott asked if he could be alone. Liam hesitated at first, but then left and went out of earshot, respecting his alphas wishes.
"I know you probably know more that we can get out of you, so I have some different questions." Scott started. "Is y/n ok?" knock, knock.
"Is she ill?" knock, knock. He exhaled deeply, as if he was wondering whether to ask the next question.
"Is y/n, y/n?" knock, knock. He straightened up tilting his head forward, making sure no one was listening.
"Are you y/n?" knock.
