The date was perfect. He took you to an ice-cream parlour down the road, it was new and you hadn't tried it out yet. He knew you loved ice-cream and afterwards he took you out to see a film. It was all very nice but your mind kept wandering back to Theo It was like he was always there, even when he wasn't there in person, he was in your mind.
You kissed Liam goodbye and headed to your room. A while later your phone started ringing. It was Liam.
"y/n are you okay?" he asked concerned, you didn't have to see him to know his eyebrows were furrowed and he was pacing.
"I'm fine. Just getting ready for bed. Thanks by the way. For a perfect date." You said, smiling down at the floor.
"Be careful. Theo's working with the dread doctors. He might hurt you." Liam warned.
"Theo won't hurt me" you reassured Liam, climbing under your duvet.
"You don't know that! You're with him now aren't you?" Liam asked angrily.
"No I'm not with him! We went on a date earlier, why would I go on a date with you, then come home and be with him, especially since we had such a great time?"
"I know y/n. I've known for a while."
"Known what?" you asked confused as to where this conversation is headed.
"How you feel about Theo that you like him. I can see the way he looks at you. The way your heartbeat increases. The way you always glance over at each other. How you were with him before we went on the date, I could smell him all over you."
"My heartbeat increases when I'm around you Liam!" you argued.
"Yes it does, but your feelings are stronger for Theo I don't think you even realise it but it's not fair on me."
"What are you saying Liam?" you asked, upset.
"I'm not saying we should break up. I'm just saying we should take a break. You and Theo are bound to happen. But I want to trust you y/n."
"What? It's not going to happen. I like you!" you answered, tears threatening to spill.
"I like you too. In fact I love you. But we need time to fix this before it gets out of hand. I still want to be your boyfriend though. I do love you." He said, more sympathetically now. He didn't sound very upset, making you think he'd been preparing this beforehand.
"Ok. If that's what you want." You ended the call there, turning your light off, not wanting to think any more about it.
A familiar tap echoed through the room, just as you were about to fall asleep. You stood up, not caring what you looked like and headed over to the window. Then you remembered. Theo worked with the doctors. You had to decide whether or not to let him in. on the one hand, he was dangerous. He could kill you. But on the other, he cared about you. He didn't technically lie to you, he just never told you that information. You never asked.
You unlatched the window, grabbing the same pair of scissors and hiding them in the waistband of your pyjama shorts. You sat on the bed and waited. He climbed in moments later, shutting the window and searching the area through the glass.
"Y/n. you have to come with me." He said, a look of worry set in his eyes. He moved closer, but you put your hand out to stop him.
"You know. Liam told me something interesting about you. He said you're working with the dread doctors." You stared at him, demanding an explanation. You weren't going to go anywhere with him.
"Ok. Yes I work with the dread doctors. But there's a reason for it, I can explain it to you. But we have to leave. Now." He exclaimed, grabbing your bag and shoving your belongings into it.
"I'm not going anywhere with you!" you exclaimed, snatching the bag put of his grasp. "You betrayed me. You've been trying to hurt me all this time."
He furiously shook his head, placing his hands on your waist.
"No. I've never tried to hurt you, I've only ever tried to protect you. I love you for god's sake!" he cried. You studied his face, but you saw no indication of lies.
"You love me?" you asked in disbelief. Theo was way out of your league, at least you thought he was.
"Yes I do love you, very much. From the moment I met you I fell for you. I've been protecting you from the start, that's why you've never had visions or the doctors have never come after you. I told them not to touch you."
"But you're trying to destroy my pack, trying to destroy my family!"
"They have more power over me than you can imagine, I just wanted a pack, and they promised me a pack. Now I'm just watching one fall apart, but I can't bear to watch you fall apart. My job wasn't to hurt you, it was to keep Scott out of the way. I don't know what they're planning but they think I've gone too soft. They're going after you because they know I love you. And I know you love me too."
You thought about his words. Before you knew what you were doing your lips were on Theo's. It wasn't like any kiss you shared with Liam. It was much more special. It was like you hadn't felt anything before now. You pulled away.
"I can't do this. It's cheating. It would just mean that Liam was right, that this is bound to happen." You were torn. You wanted to be with Theo, but that would definitely upset Liam.
"Liam said what?" Theo asked.
"He said he wants to be with me, but he has this idea that my feelings for you are stronger. And he's right. It's all my fault. It's going to hurt hum so much. I'll destroy our relationship and any chance of being friends."
"That liar!" Theo growled, clearly upset.
"What do you mean?" the words barely let your mouth before Theo started talking again.
"He wants you to feel guilty. He was jealous and he cheated on you with Hayden, again. He didn't want to be with you anymore, so now he's making you think that you ended things. That you're the reason you broke up."
"He wouldn't do that."
"Well he has been doing it since you got together. Things never really went wrong for him and Hayden, yes they argued but it was never about you. She was fine with being his bit on the side. Maybe you were his bit on the side! I don't know."
"But..."
"There's no defending him. He was always with her. He's with her right now."
"You're lying. And how did you know they argued?!" you yelled.
"I was watching over you when you went to visit his house. I overheard. And I'm telling the truth."
"Do you know how creepy that sounds!!" you said, pushing him further away.
"Yes I know, but I had to make sure you were ok. They were going to hurt you then, but they were too focused on their next chimera. But now it's too dangerous, you are their number one priority. They need me, and in order for their plan to work, they need you gone."
"And you're telling the truth..." you whispered, although you didn't need to be loud for him to hear you.
"yes." He grabbed your hand and place it over his heart. "I'm telling the truth and he doesn't deserve you. You deserve nothing less than perfection."
"And that's you is it?" you teased. You were hurt, but being around Theo healed you. It was like he was holding together the pieces of your heart.
"No one's perfect. But I will look after you. Give you everything you deserve. I can give you my heart, my whole, strong heart. I'll give it to you and only you."
"Where are we going then?" you smirked, placing a quick kiss to his lips before picking up your bag and packing.
