Sneaking out of the castle was surprisingly easy. Nobody questioned either of you, or even looked twice and you enjoyed the lack of attention you were receiving. Being a lady meant you were constantly being watched and hardly anything in your life was kept private. But sneaking out with Prince Theo was liberating.

You hopped on a wagon that was heading into town, Theo letting you sit on a wooden crate whilst he took the floor. The road that servants take was a lot bumpier than the one you had arrived on. Potholes filled the road, causing the wagon to swing from side to side. The horses at the front barely navigated around them, and you heard the occasional grunt from Theo, as his back slammed into the wooden side. On the crate you could feel the bumps but it seemed a lot comfier than on the floor, so halfway through the journey, you slid down to the floor.

"What are you doing y/n? The crate is much comfier." Theo said, trying to get you to sit back down on the crate. You moved his hands away with yours.

"I've had the comfy seat for half the journey, it's only fair that you have it for the second half." You explained, smiling at him, even when you hit a massive hole and your shoulder smacked into the crate.

"I'm not doing that." Theo stated, taking the gentleman position, refusing to let the lady sit on the floor while he has the comfy seat.

"Then I guess we will both sit on the floor." You tilted your head, a small grin forming on your face. Clearly you were both as stubborn as each other. You rested your head against the crate, watching the pale green trees pass by. You were in a world of your own, when the wagon suddenly tipped to the front right, the wheel spinning off. You slid down the cart, the scattered hay scraps preventing you from hooking your fingers around the wooden planks on the floor. Your leg scrapped down the wood, hitting a broken piece. The sharp wood sliced up your calf, breaking the skin, leaving a trail of blood behind it. Theo scrambled up to help you, a look of panic evident.

"Y/n are you ok, you're bleeding." You looked down, hissing as the hem of your skirt came into contact with the cut. The blood stained the fabric a deep red.

"I'm fine don't worry" you reassured him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a cloth to wrap around your leg.

"It's not much but it should help. Let's take you back to the castle" Theo suggested. You shook your head, climbing off the cart, stepping from side to side to prove to Theo that you were ok.

"I'm ok, and I really want to see what you have planned." Theo jumps off the cart, observing the crash. You started walking further down the road, convinced you would walk the rest of the way. Theo caught up and took your hand in his, swinging it back and forth.

The town was only a few minutes' walk from where you were. People shuffled down the streets and kids ran around happily, playing with each other. A market was set up down one of the side streets, various stalls selling food and fabrics, attracting many customers. Theo let go of your hand, whilst you ran your fingers over a light purple dyed fabric scarf.

"Here, try this." Theo held out a freshly baked pastry for you to take a bite of. "Nice isn't it" you agreed, turning your attention back to the scarf. "We will take the scarf" you turned around to Theo.

"No, I don't have any money with me and you're not buying it for me." You argued, Theo simply pulled a few coins out of his pockets, handing them over to the seller. He then took the scarf, wrapping it around your neck, his hands on each end of the scarf. He pulled you closer, so your noses were almost touching.

"It's the least I could do for bringing you on such a treacherous outing." He chuckled, his eyes flickering down to your lips. Abruptly there was a commotion at the end of the street. You heard people shouting and running, kids screaming. You and Theo ran down to see what was going on.

"Help.... Help me" you heard a woman's voice call out weekly, a middle aged woman stumbled around the streets, grabbing onto anyone near. Blood stained her clothes and skin, wiping blood onto whoever she touched. Her eyes were wide, hardly blinking and her hair was dirty. You went forward to help her. She clung onto your arms, her hands shaking. You tried to calm her down by telling her it was ok, that she was ok and you were going to get aid. Theo tried to pull you away but her grasp was too strong and you wanted to help. The woman collapsed onto you, her heavy breathing calming down as her eyelids shut. You caught her, preventing her from falling to the floor. Theo walked forward and picked her up in his arms.

"There's a doctor who lives not far from here, we will take her there." You followed Theo down the streets, until you came to an old brown building with a white sign hanging above the door way. You entered, a bell ringing out through the house. An elderly man appeared, wearing a white shirt. He motioned for you to follow quickly as he laid eyes on the woman in Theo's arms. You rushed through, and the woman was set down on the bed.

"What happened to her? She's in shock." the doctor questioned, looking up at you two as he used various medical instruments on the woman. You explained what happened, taking a seat next to the bed. "She'll be ok, she will wake up soon." The doctor got up and left the room. You took a damp cloth and cleaned the dried blood off her arms and face. She started to stir from her sleep and Theo came from where he was standing and sat on a chair the other side of the bed. The woman gradually opened her eyes, her arms trembling underneath the cloth. She looked around the room, trying to sit up. You held her right shoulder while Theo held her left to try to calm her down. Her eyes scanned your face, recognition evident. She settled back into a lying position and took a deep breath.

"Can you tell us what happened." you asked. She closed her eyes, her head tilted back. "It's ok to tell us, maybe we can help you." You tried to explain.

"The mountain..." she croaked.
