You were beyond pissed. How could he do that? How could he know about your feelings for him and yet kiss her? It made you wonder if Malia was right. Maybe he never had feelings for you. But Hayden? He had spent the last few weeks complaining about her to you. You had guessed he hated her and even you even defended her every now and then, knowing his I.E.D made him more easily annoyed. You guessed the line between love and hate was thinner than you had thought.
It felt like he had reached into your chest and taken part of your heart. He had left you incomplete. Broken.
It was like he had cheated, but you had no right to get annoyed, as you weren't dating. You were just friends. Those four words made you feel even more miserable. He probably didn't see anything wrong with what he had done, which meant he would act like normal around you. However you couldn't act like normal around him. Normal was acting like his girlfriend, except you didn't kiss.
You knew that was his first kiss. As selfish as it sounded, you wanted it to be you. You didn't like the idea of anyone else being with him.
Your expectations became a reality the next day, when Liam joined you at your locker, talking as if nothing had happened. You almost let it go, thinking that he may only view the kiss as a mistake. But then she walked down the hallway. He watched her until she disappeared from sight and you recognised the look in his eyes. It was the look you had wanted to receive from him for a long time. At break you usually sit together outside, in a particular spot. But today he didn't. He was over by Hayden, smiling like an idiot.
But he was happy. You loved him. That meant that you wanted him to be happy, even if it wasn't with you. You had to move on.
When you talked about moving on you didn't mean with another guy, you meant that you should simply get over your feelings. Although there was nothing simple about it.
"I thought Liam normally sat with you at break." A voice said from beside you.
"What are you doing here Theo?" you asked, gazing at Liam.
"You're alone. I thought it might be nice for you to have a friend." He joked, bumping his shoulder into yours. You couldn't help the smile that slipped onto your face as you recognised the words that you had said to him in the library. But the smile quickly fell when you saw Liam and Hayden extremely close again. Theo followed your line of sight to the couple. You couldn't stop the tears that fell, looking away from them.
"What's going on between the two of you?" he didn't mean to make you more upset, but he did.
"nothing." you whispered. "Absolutely nothing." He wrapped his arms around you. Normally you would've pushed him away, but you couldn't deny how comfortable it was in his arms. So you sat there with the enemy.
"He's an idiot." Theo whispered into your hair.
"We both found out we had feelings for each other. I went to talk to him about it. I found him in the locker room with Hayden hanging off him." You said. You had to tell him, having kept it from everyone else.
"He knew about your feelings but did this anyway?" Theo asked, his tone of voice suggesting he was shocked. You nodded, not wanting to discuss it any more. Before long break was over and you headed to your next lesson. You didn't speak to anyone in the pack about it, not wanting to cause more awkwardness. Then it was time to switch classes. You strolled over to your locker, but were disrupted when you heard shouting. You followed the noise, as did many other students. You saw people huddled around boys who were clearly fighting, a teacher breaking it up. You squeezed your way to the front, your mouth dropping open when you saw both Liam and Theo covered in blood. The teacher sent everyone else to their next lesson, leaving the three of you alone until the teacher came back. Liam looked at you as if he expected you to walk over to him, but you didn't. You couldn't pretend things were fine, so you walked over to Theo, guiding him to the disabled bathroom to get cleaned up.
Once inside you grabbed some paper towels and dabbed the blood off his face.
"What was that about?" you asked nervously, as the situation had escalated massively.
"He hurt you and he knew what he was doing." Theo replied, hissing at the contact of the paper against his nose.
"Have you broken it?" you asked concerned, but that was soon replaced with anger once he fixed it and healed.
"You've made everything worse." You said, stepping back.
"I'm sorry, but you weren't going to do anything and he needed to pay for what he did to you." You sighed, knowing Theo had the best intentions.
"So now he knows I know..." you muttered unhappily.
"No. he thinks I overheard that the two of you liked each other, then went to confront him about it before practice. That's when I saw them together." You exhaled deeply, relieved that Liam didn't know you had seen.
"You deserve better." He stated. "Were you serious about me earning your trust?"
"Is that why you did it?"
"No. I did it because I was mad that he hurt you."
"Yes I meant it."
Your conversation ended there, the teacher interrupting to see if Theo was ok, then calling him to his office for a word. You replayed your conversation in your head. For some reason you could tell when Theo was lying, there was a certain look on his face as he did. That was going to be useful when with him and oddly, you had started to trust him, despite how mysterious he was.
