Samuel's team and yours split up as you decided to take the lead. You tasked him with helping any villagers he might find, while your team focused on tracking down the pirates.
You and your team found yourselves in an eerily quiet village. It didn't look abandoned-there were clear signs that the villagers had been there not too long ago.
"This place is scary!" one of the cadets exclaimed, his voice trembling. You hummed in agreement, scanning the surroundings.
As you looked around, something caught your eye-a piece of graffiti on one of the walls. You approached it, your marines busy with their own surveying.
"It seems this island is quite wealthy. I wonder what happened here," a woman's mature voice stated from behind you.
"Melody-san, do you think the pirates are still here? We didn't see their ship at all," another girl asked, her voice softer, filled with uncertainty.
"Probably. Garp-san wouldn't have sent the Captain here if they weren't," Melody responded confidently.
You glanced back at the two of them, a bit relieved that someone on your team had some sense. They noticed your gaze and immediately straightened up, clearly startled by your attention.
"What are your names?" you asked, your tone calm but authoritative.
"I am Melody, Captain," the taller girl with long purple hair responded firmly.
"I-I'm Asahi, ma'am," the shorter girl with orange hair stammered, her nerves showing.
"Good," you nodded. "Stay sharp. If the villagers left in a hurry, it means something drove them out. The pirates might still be here, lying low."
You looked at the graffiti again, trying to decipher if it was just random vandalism or a sign left behind by the pirates. Whatever the case, you knew you had to be ready for anything.
"Melody, Asahi, keep an eye out for anything unusual. We need to figure out where the villagers went and where the pirates are hiding."
They both nodded in agreement.
"The same goes for the rest of you. Find anything you think might help us out," you shouted to the rest of the team. The cadets saluted before scattering to search the area.
You turned back to the graffiti, which resembled a jolly roger. It was a clear sign that the pirates were here-and they were likely searching for something. But what? And where did all the villagers go?
As you pondered these questions, Melody approached you, holding out a letter. The paper was worn, the handwriting rough and hasty-definitely not something from the villagers.
"I found this in one of the establishments," Melody said. "I believe they're searching for a hidden treasure on this island."
