The next morning, as you were tidying up your room, you heard Luffy shout a familiar name.
"Makino!" he cheered.
Curious, you stepped outside, wearing only a loose shirt and shorts. Your eyes lit up at the sight of the lean, green-haired woman.
"Oh! Makino-chan!" you beamed, approaching her. Makino blushed deeply and placed her hands on her cheeks, surprised to see you.
"(Y-Y/N)-san! How nice to see you again!" she stammered, avoiding eye contact.
You chuckled and walked over, gently taking her hand and planting a kiss on it. The bandits watching nearby were stunned, their jaws dropping.
"She's flirting!" they exclaimed in unison.
Mayor Wood, who had been arguing with Dadan, stopped and glared at you.
"It's too early for that, (Y/N)!" he scolded, tapping you on the back of your head with his cane.
Unfazed, you continued to smile brightly at Makino.
"What brings you here?" you asked, and Makino blushed shyly.
"I heard Luffy was here, so Mayor Wood and I decided to visit him. We brought clothes for him and the other boys," she explained, and you gently released her hand.
"Oh, that's great! Sabo, Ace, come here!" The boys looked at each other before walking toward your way.
Makino started measuring the two to make adjustments. You wouldn't fail to notice Ace shyness toward the woman.
You could only smile fondly while the other two laugh at Ace uncharacteristic attitude.
Then came dinner. Makino insisted on preparing it, with you hunting for the ingredients she needed.
"I hope you like it!" she smiled, and everyone eagerly dug in.
For once, dinner at the cabin went peacefully. You sat beside Luffy, savoring the delicious food, missing such tasteful meals. Even Garp's ship couldn't compare to Makino's cooking.
"Yummy!" Luffy cheered, and you chuckled. You gave Shiro a plate of roasted beef, which he eagerly devoured.
"Meals should be good on the ship. I'm going to get the best cook the first thing I set out to sea!" Sabo said.
"I'm going to become a pirate before you, so forget it," Ace smirked, sitting beside him.
"That's not fair! I'm going to become a pirate first!" Luffy joined in, and you laughed.
"You guys are going to be great pirates for sure!" you grinned, ignoring the fact that you were a marine.
Suddenly, Dadan and the bandits spat out their water simultaneously. You looked at them in disgust as you wiped your face.
"Ahem!" A familiar voice cut through the room, draining the color from your face and making shivers run down your spine.
"You're still saying that nonsense?! Can't you understand that you must become Navy soldiers?!" Garp yelled angrily, hitting the boys on the top of their heads. You fearfully smiled and tried to quietly crawl away from the scene.
"(Y/N)." Your grandpa's serious tone made you freeze. You fearfully looked behind you.
"H-hai, Jiji—BONK!" You screamed in pain as you knelt on the ground, clutching your head.
