Sicarius Leo's POV

It's been a week since we came back from Niverian Island. The incident with the Dahlia Pirates hit us harder than anything before.

It made one thing painfully clear—we, the five of us, the Superiors of the Pillars, aren't as strong as we believed.

No. We never were. But we were always expected to be.

Did I say five? I meant four now. Dark—William... that cold-hearted bastard, as I thought of him before—is dead.

He's dead. Right in front of us. Right in front of (Y/N).

(Y/N)... she's been distant since we returned. Since the incident. Unless duty calls for us to gather, she stays far away.

She blames herself. I know she does. She carries the weight of everything that happened.

We were rescued by Shiro after the island exploded. He came running, pulled us from the sea, dragging our lifeless bodies onto our small ship. I was barely conscious, but strong enough to call for backup.

To be honest, I didn't expect anyone to come for us.

I don't remember much after losing consciousness. The last clear image I have is (Y/N) somehow merging with Yami. They became one, but Yami... he had more control than her.

Still, they saved us.

But even with her awakening, (Y/N) couldn't kill the Niverians. She managed to scare them off, though, and forced them to flee.

When we were escorted back to the facility, I lied. For the first time in my life, I lied to the Prime Superior. I lied to our superiors.

I told them we succeeded in wiping out the Soul Eaters but failed to kill the full-blooded Niverians. I told them about the Dahlia Pirates.

But I left out the part about (Y/N)'s awakening. And I didn't mention how Dark died.

I told them Dark sacrificed himself for us. For them.

I thought Vizier might show some sign of grief for his son. But he didn't. Not even the slightest. He seemed more annoyed than anything that his son had died for what he called a "useless cause." No, not seemed—he said it. He called Dark's death "disappointing" and then just left the room.

It made me want to kill him right there.

How could he? His own son.

When I told (Y/N) everything—what I'd said to the Prime Superior, Vizier's reaction—she didn't react at all. She didn't scream, didn't scold me, didn't laugh. Nothing. She just sat there, looking at me coldly, blankly.
