Chapter 25: Defiance

It had been a full day since you arrived on the island. Shanks had been incredibly helpful. He had his ways of assisting people, that was for sure. It was no wonder Luffy admired him to the point of idolization.

And you? You were grateful. He helped you realize more things than he could ever imagine.

"You're bringing him with you?" Shanks asked as you readied a pack of food on Shiro's back. Fenwick was busy gathering his own supplies, and you had instructed him to pack only the essentials.

"Yes. Don't worry, I'm not going to kill him on the way," you replied with a grin, letting him see your fangs.

Shanks chuckled, clearly amused, while Fenwick glared at you as he adjusted his backpack.

"Oi, I heard that!" he snapped, making you laugh. His newfound bravery was noted.

"Or accidentally throw him off Shiro," Benn added with a puff of his cigarette. You smiled at the older man, growing fond of him.

"I heard that too!" Fenwick shot back, causing the three of you to laugh together.

"So, what's your plan with him?" Shanks asked as you climbed onto Shiro's back. You signaled Fenwick to approach, which he did reluctantly.

He climbed on and settled behind you. You locked eyes with Shanks and grinned confidently.

"That's something you'll have to figure out for yourself, Akagami." With that, you took off, Fenwick clinging to you for dear life.

Shanks watched your retreating form with a fond smile.

"You've fallen for her quickly, Captain," Benn teased, and Shanks blushed, looking at his vice-captain in a panic.

"I'm not in love! I just find her interesting. Besides, she doesn't belong to that kind of world," Shanks said, smiling as he gazed out at the ocean.

"Why do you think so?"

"I just know," Shanks replied, then a look of recognition crossed his face.

"I wonder what her plan is, though." Suddenly, a loud explosion rocked the village. People screamed, saying that the scholar's house had exploded and he might still be inside.

Benn and Shanks exchanged glances, smiles creeping onto their lips.

Shanks laughed, finding the situation amusing, while Benn chuckled along.

Interesting woman indeed. Shanks is excited to see you out there again. But this time, as a free woman.

You exited the Prime Superior's office with a cold, stoic expression. You had just submitted the report on Fenwick, carefully omitting critical details like how close Fenwick was to discovering the truth and the possible location of Pluto. You also left out the fact that you had faked the scholar's death.

Consider this the beginning of your defiance against the World Government.

"I see you're back, Agent Blackrose." You froze as Grand Superior Vizier approached you. Automatically, you straightened and bowed.

Vizier stood before you, his imposing presence accentuated by his height, which matched that of the Shichibukai. That one with stitch scar on his face and the ridiculous hook as a replacement of his severed hand.

Oh fuck, focus (Y/N).

Vizier's cold eyes assessed you with a sharp gaze.

"At ease," he commanded. You relaxed slightly, meeting his gaze with a steady look.
