Chapter 116: Rooting Out the Enemy

With the old woman killed, the situation on the ground returned to Gu Xi's control.

Originally, at least three ghost leaders were surrounding Gu Xi, but now it was just Gu Xi's troops fighting one ghost leader.

Although Luna had taken command from Gu Xi, the Death Incarnation in the sky gave her enough confidence.

Under Luna's command, Gu Xi's undead troops and the crow soldiers clashed head-on.

Both sides had similar strength and numbers, and now it was a battle of strategy.

Luna was not a professional commander, but Gu Xi's undead troops had a full range of units, from flying to ground units. Even the most basic skeleton soldiers could be divided into four types, and their cooperation was quite effective.

Unlike the crow soldiers who only had spearmen, under Luna's control, the battle was balanced. Luna even had some ghost troops to spare, keeping an eye on Gu Xi's side of the fight.

Leaving the main battlefield to Luna, Gu Xi drove the evil coffin to the building he was guarding.

At first, Gu Xi was only chatting with Du Wushuang and didn't pay attention to the situation of the building behind him.

He hadn't even had time to ask what this building was for.

Now, as he approached, Gu Xi saw countless white paper pieces falling from the sky, sticking to the building's outer walls, seemingly transforming it into a paper-made structure.

Du Wushuang, the Death Knight, was swinging his heavy sword continuously, cutting down the falling white paper pieces. But his attack range was too small; for every piece he cut down, a new one appeared, unable to cope with the situation.

When Gu Xi arrived, Du Wushuang's helmet was still shaking, but he couldn't speak.

"Do you know where the enemy is?"

Gu Xi knew that random slashing wouldn't work; they had to find the enemy to break this spell.

Du Wushuang rolled her eyes internally. If she knew where the enemy was, they wouldn't be in this situation.

Seeing Du Wushuang couldn't answer, Gu Xi ignored her and shouted, "Death Incarnation, move broadly!"

The Death Incarnation, already high in the sky, swooped down. As it descended, the black mist around it unleashed its full power.

Within about ten meters of the Death Incarnation, everything was affected by this black mist.

This was the happiest moment for the Death Incarnation. Previously, in Aridowei City, it didn't dare release its black mist while flying, fearing it would destroy the buildings below.

But now it was different. Gu Xi's order for full power meant it could thoroughly enjoy itself.

The Death Incarnation dove into the area with falling white paper pieces, and within the black mist, all the white paper pieces were torn to shreds much faster than Du Wushuang could manage.

With the Death Incarnation taking over, Du Wushuang sighed in relief but didn't rest. When no paper pieces fell from the sky, she cut off those already stuck on the building.

Gu Xi watched the Death Incarnation closely, understanding that disrupting the enemy's attack on such a scale would force them to reveal new tactics.

He observed where the new paper pieces were coming from.

Sure enough, as all the paper pieces in the sky were shattered, new ones appeared again.

This time, Gu Xi noticed they were coming from the southeast corner of the building.

Simultaneously, the paper pieces were no longer attacking the building but the Death Incarnation flying in the sky.

Seeing this, Gu Xi patted the evil coffin, and it moved towards the southeast corner of the building.

When he arrived, he saw the last piece of white paper flying up from the corner.

Without thinking, Gu Xi swung his Rod of Shattering at the spot.

'Hit someone.'

Feeling the impact, Gu Xi's eyes lit up. Hitting someone was good; he feared missing them.

Even though hitting someone felt different.

Flipping his hand, Gu Xi thrust the Rod of Shattering forward, "Bone Spike!"

A bone spike shot out, and he heard a tearing sound. It seemed he had pierced something.

Looking closely, Gu Xi laughed. In front of him was a paper man disguised as a wall painting.

If Gu Xi hadn't hit it, he wouldn't have noticed this paper man hiding here.

This was real physical camouflage.

Laughing, Gu Xi smashed the Rod of Shattering onto the paper man, cursing as he did.

"Paper man, huh? Sneaking in, huh? Want this building, huh? Die!"

In a few strikes, Gu Xi shredded the paper man.

Then he waved to the sky, "Fly close to the walls and ground, find all the hidden paper men."

The black mist around the Death Incarnation swirled, turning the paper pieces flying towards it into powder. The black mist spread out, and the Death Incarnation's body enlarged. Following Gu Xi's order, it flew close to the ground and walls.

Gu Xi initially wanted to chase after the Death Incarnation, but its flight speed was too fast for the evil coffin to keep up. Moreover, the Death Incarnation swept around right in front of Gu Xi.

So, Gu Xi stayed put to observe everything.

As Gu Xi had guessed, more hidden paper men were quickly found by the Death Incarnation.

Some paper men tried to resist, but their combat power was weak; they were torn to shreds in a turn, leaving nothing behind.

With Gu Xi finding a way to break the stalemate, the building was no longer affected by the paper pieces. Du Wushuang's efforts to clear the stuck paper pieces slowly restored the building's original state.

Gu Xi finally saw the building's situation.

It was a two-story Eastern-style small building. The paper attack had worn down the outer walls, but the interior remained largely unchanged. Peeking inside, Gu Xi saw a large number of stones and stonemason tools.

Seeing Gu Xi looking in, Du Wushuang explained, "This is a jewelry shop. Besides making jewelry, it also makes stone figures, stone dolls, and statues."

Gu Xi instantly understood and thought that making jewelry might just be a side business for this shop.
