Chapter 46: Different Mirrors
"This is what I found in the ruins of a castle, back then..."
Solow wanted to explain the origin of this mirror shard to Gu Xi, but Gu Xi had already picked up the shard himself.
[Dead Magic Mirror (Green): This was originally an omnipotent, all-knowing magic mirror, but it deceived its owner, leading to disaster. Before the owner died, she personally destroyed this deceitful magic mirror.]
Seeing the information pop up in front of him, Gu Xi was even more surprised.
When he first picked up the mirror shard, it was merely because the deathly aura of the mirror intrigued him.
Gu Xi had seen dead cities, but never a dead mirror, so he was curious.
But he didn't expect that there would be such a story behind this mirror.
"Wait, can you tell me again where this mirror came from?"
Holding the mirror, Gu Xi interrupted Solow's boasting.
Seeing this, Solow quickly replied, "It was in the ruins of a castle over there, beyond the forest. The forest with many wild boars, you know? It’s said that because of the wild boars, even though there's an iron mine, they can’t mine it."
Solow pointed in a general direction as he spoke.
However, the area he pointed to was quite broad. Gu Xi looked in the direction Solow indicated but saw nothing.
"Alright, I'll take this mirror shard."
"Great, I won’t haggle the price with you. Thirty-five pounds, or equivalent value in gold or other items."
That expensive?
Gu Xi frowned, feeling poor again.
However, he flipped his hand and took out a piece of eerie rat skin, asking, "How about this?"
Given that Solow could find so many special mirrors, he naturally had some sensitivity to eerie auras.
The moment Gu Xi took out the eerie rat skin, Solow knew it wasn't inferior to the mirrors inside his coat.
"Alright, but the quantity isn’t enough. You know, these small skins are hard to sell, I..."
As Solow bargained, he quickly calculated in his mind that if he could get a few more pieces of such eerie rat skin, he could upgrade his coat. This way, the power of the eerie mirrors he collected wouldn’t dissipate as easily.
However, as a merchant, though he wanted them, he still asked for more.
Having wandered around the flea market, Gu Xi had already understood the prices here.
He knew that such items with obvious eerie auras were expensive in the hands of ordinary people.
"At most, two skins. Take it or leave it."
Hearing Gu Xi’s firm tone, Solow immediately agreed.
"Alright, two skins."
He seemed afraid that Gu Xi would change his mind.
Gu Xi was a bit speechless. He couldn’t tell this naive kid which items were valuable and which weren't.
He could only say the flea market here was of a lower grade, with limited exposure.
Thus, Gu Xi finally avoided the embarrassment of having no money by trading two eerie rat skins for the [Dead Magic Mirror].
Then he asked, "Are there other things in the box?"
"Yes, of course."
Seeing more business opportunities, Solow quickly opened the next layer of the box.
The second layer also contained a mirror shard, but this one was different from the [Dead Magic Mirror], filled with an eerie aura.
This aura was much stronger than the mirrors in Solow's coat, but Gu Xi could tell at a glance that the essence of this mirror was similar to the junk in the coat.
[Eerie Prayer Mirror (White): A devout believer prayed to the mirror every night at midnight, causing it to mutate. This mirror can summon an eerie entity of up to level 5 (Note: the summoned entity is not controlled by the summoner).]
This item was just average, not as good as the [Dead Magic Mirror]. Gu Xi glanced at it and then said to Solow, "One skin. Take it or leave it."
"Deal, sold!"
Seeing a valuable customer, Solow eagerly handed over the [Eerie Prayer Mirror] and quickly opened the third layer.
The third layer contained another mirror shard. Upon opening it, Solow sighed and said, "This is the last one. Besides this, I don't have any better-quality mirrors."
Looking down, Gu Xi saw a gold-edged makeup mirror, also emitting an eerie aura.
[Eerie Rule Mirror (White): Can inscribe three true or false rules to create an eerie field to kill intruders. Each kill allows one rule modification, up to three times (0/3).]
Seeing the information of the makeup mirror, Gu Xi suddenly thought of the mirror wrapped in the luggage on the steam bus.
This rule mirror was similar to the one Gu Xi had smashed, but smaller and could write fewer rules.
It could only inscribe three rules, and Gu Xi believed these rules couldn't directly kill.
There must be other conditions involved.
"This is interesting. One skin."
"No, add more. This is hard to come by. The other two I found myself, but this one I got from cultists, which was dangerous."
"Alright, I'll add one more skin, but you need to give me ten pounds in cash."
Gu Xi hesitated for a moment and finally stated his condition.
Solow initially didn’t want to agree, but the eerie rat skins were too valuable to him. In the end, he gritted his teeth, "Deal. This time, I’m bleeding heavily."
After handing over the eerie rat skins, Gu Xi didn’t take the lead box, casually storing the three mirrors in his backpack.
Solow then rummaged through his belongings, gathering ten pounds and handing it to Gu Xi.
"Thanks!"
After securing the money, Gu Xi felt more confident and continued exploring the flea market.
But this time, he didn’t encounter another merchant like Solow.
After wandering around without finding anything good, Gu Xi thought of returning to the city.
However, looking at the sky, he decided to sit down at a nearby tavern.
"Any recommendations?"
"Yes, our pigeon pie is the most famous!"
