Chapter 130: Crafting Weapons
Putting away the last items, before the Death Incarnation dissipated, Gu Xi left the tavern area with Du Wushuang.
Along the way, Du Wushuang kept chattering. She had no objections to Gu Xi's choice, just a bit surprised that there could be such troublesome matters within the guild.
She also understood that without Gu Xi, Liu Kai would definitely be suppressed at level 4 by his brother. No matter how much potential he had, being stuck at one point would mean Liu Kai's future path was blocked.
No wonder Liu Kai seized the opportunity and desperately consumed all the potions on the spot.
He understood that if he didn't take the potions on the spot, various issues would arise with these unidentified potions on the way back.
"This kind of thing happens a lot. I saw it in the academy before, which is why I like undead; at least they don't betray you."
Gu Xi just shrugged at Du Wushuang's words, as he had seen such things many times.
Soon, this matter was thrown to the back of Gu Xi's mind, even almost forgetting the map to find the Wisdom Tree.
They quickly arrived near the blacksmith shop.
As Du Wushuang mentioned, after the big battle, most players chose to first come to the blacksmith shop to repair their damaged equipment from the fight.
Only then did they handle other matters.
Now that they had come, the crowd at the blacksmith shop had thinned considerably.
Inside the blacksmith shop, there were few people handling equipment in front of the rows of furnaces and anvils.
A burly man was sitting in front of a furnace, drinking a greenish liquid. When he saw Gu Xi and the others enter, he didn't even look up.
This was the blacksmith master from the , level 5, with all his experience in blacksmithing. His combat power was unknown, but his blacksmithing skills were undoubtedly strong.
"Master, I want to forge a weapon."
Upon approaching the blacksmith, Gu Xi spoke courteously.
Hearing Gu Xi's address, the blacksmith smiled happily.
"Don't call me master; I'm just level 5, unworthy of the title."
However, his demeanor clearly invited more flattery.
"Of course you're a master. I brought many materials from another world specifically to have you forge a custom weapon. This shows how renowned you are, even in other worlds."
Gu Xi's words floated like a feather.
In reality, he didn't know about the Dispersed Immortal Garden or the blacksmith before entering this world.
But the blacksmith was quite pleased. "Am I that famous? Not bad, young man. Are you an undead mage? What kind of weapon do you want? Dagger? Staff? Scythe? Or an oriental mourning stick?"
"I want a long staff. What materials are needed?"
"For a long staff, you need a good staff body first, then a staff head. Show me your materials, and I'll see what can be designed."
Thanks to the compliments, the blacksmith was very accommodating, willing to check Gu Xi's materials before deciding on the design.
The blacksmith added, "Remember, I'm best at making spears and broadswords, and scythes are a close second. I can make staffs, but they're not my specialty. Think it over."
Gu Xi understood that frequent customers were likely death knights, as undead mages didn't consume many weapons.
Nodding, Gu Xi began taking out materials.
First, he produced a [Heaven-reaching Pea].
Seeing the small seed, the blacksmith was surprised.
"A seed? This is good for making long-handled weapons or staffs. But you can't plant it here; it's wasteful. What's your undead mage specialization? Necromantic Plague? Pestilence? Curse?"
"Necromantic Plague, plus Corpse Explosion."
"Oh, I know how to enhance it. Hey, you there, go get the Flesh Mill from the back."
The blacksmith directed a disciple to fetch the machine and started playing with the [Heaven-reaching Pea].
"This is good stuff. I'll make your staff with the main vine, but can I keep the extra leaves?"
"Of course."
Gu Xi didn't know what use the leaves had, but if the blacksmith wanted them, he'd give them to increase goodwill.
"Great. Now, your staff will need a gem or a magic source, and preferably some metal and decorative materials. More materials aren't necessarily better; compatibility is key. Do you have suitable ones?"
"If not, we have some good materials in the back, but they're expensive."
While talking, the disciple returned, pushing a rusty press with some dried flesh underneath.
"Put the seed in."
Gu Xi quickly placed the [Heaven-reaching Pea] in the flesh.
As soon as it was buried, a green light shone, and the seed began to sprout and grow rapidly.
Neither Gu Xi nor the blacksmith paid attention to the vine's growth process; they just watched from the side.
Gu Xi observed the changes during the growth, while the blacksmith focused on the vine's length and hardness.
"It's a very good material. This vine is better suited for staffs. Long-handled weapons would bend too much unless you have great strength."
While speaking, the vine grew to about three meters. The blacksmith asked, "How long do you want your staff?"
"A bit over two meters."
"Then now."
The blacksmith stepped forward and snapped the vine at three meters.
He explained to Gu Xi, "This vine has three growth stages. First, at three meters, all essence is in the vine, making it the best material.
If you miss this stage, wait until it grows thick as an arm, then strip the outer skin, leaving the core.
The core is the toughest part, suitable for long-handled weapons.
Lastly, when the vine reaches its full length, only the drooping shoots are usable, ideal for making whips."
