also yes i'm aware an adoption process takes a long time but for the sake of the plot let's pretend it doesn't
8th December - final eras tour show
Taylor's POV"So." I sighed, propping my feet up on the chair across from me and running my fingers through my hair. "Who are we thinking for the 22 hat tonight?"
I was sitting with Tree, my mom, dad, and the girl that consistently ran Taylor Nation's accounts - Hazel. We always met either the day of a show or a few days before the first show to decide who was going to get the 22 hat. There was a moment of silence, and then Hazel leaned forwards.
"Well, there's this little girl." She said. "She's about five, and both of her parents died in a car accident about a year ago. Her social worker is bringing her to the show since she was supposed to come with her mom, apparently she absolutely loves your music. I was thinking her."
I nodded, and Hazel turned her computer around to show me. She had an Instagram account pulled up, belonging to a woman named Jaimee Nelson. She had bright red hair and a beautiful smile, and in a lot of her photos there was a little girl who was the spitting image of her mother. I scrolled through, clicking onto one where mother and daughter were posing in sparkly costumes. The caption read 'First fitting for our Eras Tour outfits, one year to go! Who wears it better; mom or Ella?'
"Ella." I whispered, gazing at the five year old in a little fearless pajama costume, her hair tied up with a big white bow. She had thick locks of red hair, soft brown eyes, and a cheeky smile. Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at her, knowing she'd lost her mom and dad not long after the photo was taken.
"Yeah?" Hazel asked, and I nodded.
"Yeah. Ella."

There was a lot of emotion as we started the show, and I had to fight off tears for most of the show. It was the last show of the Eras Tour, and I was a little sad about the fact that Travis wasn't here, but due to some scheduling issues, there was no way for him to be here. He'd really wanted to come and see, but the games had just clashed too much. We'd organized for me to call him right after.
I danced down the stage to the little red haired girl waiting for me at the end, fiddling with her fingers nervously. Waving at her, I smiled, and she smiled back, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. I felt so horrible knowing she was an orphan, but maybe I could do a tiny bit to make her feel better.
"Hi Ella." I smiled, placing my microphone aside as I knelt down on the stage.
"Hi Taylor!" Ella smiled, reaching her arms up for a hug. I wrapped my arms around the little girl and held her close, waiting for her to let go first.
"It's so nice to meet you." I told her when we let go, both of her little hands clutching mine. She blinked, and a tear ran down her cheek. "Oh honey, are you okay?" I whispered.
"I'm okay." She sniffed. "I just really wanted to meet you. Me and my mommy love you so much, and daddy got us tickets."
"Honey I'm so sorry about your mommy and daddy." I squeezed her hand, and she smiled sadly. "I promise it'll be alright." I told her. "And you're going to grow up to be an incredible person that your parents will be so proud of."
"Thank you." Ella smiled a little happier as I took the hat off my head, placing it onto hers. "Can I give you a bracelet?" She asked.
"Of course honey." I smiled, and she wriggled one off her wrist and stretched it to fit over mine. "Thank you, it's beautiful."
