Travis' POV
"I can already feel the sun." Taylor sighed, tilting her face towards the sky as we stepped through the glass doors, out of the airport onto the footpath. I smiled at her as the daylight lit up her face, made her hair glow. "Thank you Travis baby." She whispered, looking over at me. "This is the best birthday present ever."
I smiled wider, putting my arms around her shoulders and pulling her close against my side. I'd surprised Taylor with a trip to the Gold Coast for her birthday, and we'd left a day later. It was summer in Australia so it was a shock to suddenly go from snow to blistering heat, but it was incredible. I knew Taylor had always wanted to come here, and now I'd made it happen for her.
We walked down to where the rental car we'd hired was, and I unlocked it with the keys we'd picked up from the desk inside. I took Taylor's bags from her and put them in the back before opening the passenger door, giving her a little wink as I helped her in. She giggled, blowing me an adorable kiss.
"Want to see something cool baby girl?" I asked when I was in the driver's seat.
"What?" Taylor grinned. Leaning forwards, I pressed a button and watched the delight spread over Taylor's face when the roof of the car lifted and folded itself back. "It's a convertible?" She squealed, grabbing my arm.
"Happy birthday." I leaned over and kissed her cheek.
"Travis you didn't have to do this." Taylor blushed, but I could tell she loved it. I smiled, pleased at how happy she was, and I reached over to take her hand as I started the car.
We still had half an hour until check in at the hotel we'd booked so I took the long way to the beachfront from the airport, driving down to the main road that ran right by the shore. I drove slowly down, glancing over at Taylor to see her smile lit up, her eyes lit up, her whole body lit up. She had her head tilted back, hair twisting and blown out in the wind. There were a million times that I thought to myself she had never looked so gorgeous in her life, and this was another one of those times. Taylor was breathtaking.
We checked into the hotel just after one, taking the elevator up to the top floor. It was a nice room, with a huge double bed overlooking the ocean view, a balcony, spacious bathroom, push couch and TV, and a kitchen. Taylor was delighted, immediately running to the balcony to peer down from the twentieth floor and make her head spin from the height. I chuckled at her, putting our bags down by the bed to unpack into the dresser on the other wall later.
"You hungry baby girl?" I called out to Taylor.
"Yeah." She nodded, turning back and coming inside. "Starving actually. Can we go get some lunch? We could..." Taylor smiled, draping her arms around my neck. "Go for a nice walk down the beach." She whispered as my hands found her waist. "Walk up near Cavill Ave and find a place to get some food, look at some shops on the way back, and then swim maybe?"
"Sure baby girl, that sounds amazing." I whispered, ducking down and fitting my lips against hers. Anything to make her smile. That was all I ever wanted.
We both got changed into cooler clothes and left the hotel, hand in hand as we walked down towards the beach. The sand was burning hot so we rushed down to the cooler parts of the beach where the sea had soaked the ground, our shoes dangling from our hands. People were everywhere along the golden sands, sunbathing, playing games, building sandcastles, swimming, surfing. It was a paradise.
"God I love this." Taylor sighed, our hands swinging between us as we walked slowly down the beach. "It's so nice and warm and sunny." She smiled, a soft glow on her cheeks. I squeezed her hand gently and Taylor looked over. God, that look in her eyes. I lived for that look.
