The world always seemed larger at night.

Ni-ki sat by the window of his hotel room, staring at the city lights below. It was late, far later than he should be awake, but the buzz from the concert had yet to leave his veins. The crowd’s cheers still echoed in his mind, their energy a force that he could almost reach out and touch. Yet, beneath that excitement, a strange emptiness lingered.

Being the youngest in the group wasn’t easy. He was often seen as the playful maknae, the one who always brought a smile to the others' faces. But there were moments—quiet moments like this—where he felt the weight of expectations pressing down on him, just like the others, if not more. He loved performing, he loved his hyungs, and he loved their fans, but sometimes, he couldn’t help but wonder if he was enough.

The door to the room creaked open, and Jungwon peeked his head in. “Ni-ki? You’re still up?”

Ni-ki turned to face his leader, trying to muster a smile. “Yeah, couldn’t sleep.”

Jungwon nodded, stepping into the room and closing the door behind him. He walked over to the window, standing beside Ni-ki. “Big day, huh?”

“Yeah,” Ni-ki replied quietly, his eyes drifting back to the cityscape. The silence stretched between them, comfortable yet heavy.

Jungwon glanced at Ni-ki, noticing the distant look in his eyes. “Something on your mind?”

Ni-ki hesitated, unsure of how to put his feelings into words. He didn’t want to worry his hyung, but at the same time, he knew he couldn’t keep everything bottled up inside. Finally, he sighed, breaking the silence. “Hyung… do you ever feel like you’re not good enough? Like no matter how hard you try, it’s still not enough?”

Jungwon’s expression softened. He hadn’t expected such a vulnerable question, especially from Ni-ki, who was usually so full of confidence. He took a seat on the windowsill, gesturing for Ni-ki to join him. “All the time,” he admitted. “I think we all do. It’s part of being human.”

Ni-ki looked at him, surprised. “But you’re always so confident, hyung. You’re our leader. You always know what to do.”

Jungwon chuckled softly. “That’s because I have to be. But it doesn’t mean I don’t doubt myself. I just try not to let it show because I know you guys rely on me. But trust me, Ni-ki, every single one of us feels that way sometimes.”

Ni-ki sighed, leaning his head against the cool glass of the window. “I just… I don’t want to let anyone down. The fans, you guys… I want to be perfect, but it feels impossible.”

Jungwon placed a comforting hand on Ni-ki’s shoulder. “Perfection doesn’t exist, Ni-ki. What matters is that you give it your all, and I know you do. You’re an incredible performer, and more importantly, you’re a good person. That’s what counts.”

Ni-ki didn’t respond right away. Instead, he let Jungwon’s words sink in, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. He had always looked up to his hyungs, admired their talent and strength, but he had never realized how much they struggled with the same insecurities he did. It made him feel a little less alone.

“Thanks, hyung,” Ni-ki said softly, finally allowing a genuine smile to grace his lips.

Jungwon smiled back, giving him a gentle pat on the back. “Anytime. And remember, we’re all in this together. If you ever feel overwhelmed, just talk to us. We’re here for you.”

Ni-ki nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. The darkness outside didn’t seem so daunting anymore, not when he knew he had his hyungs by his side.

As they sat together, the silence between them shifted from heavy to comforting. Ni-ki felt a little more at ease, a little more ready to face the world again. The doubts weren’t gone, but they didn’t seem as overwhelming anymore.

Eventually, Jungwon stood up, stretching his arms. “Come on, we should get some sleep. Tomorrow’s another big day.”

Ni-ki followed his lead, feeling lighter than before. As they left the room, Jungwon gave him a reassuring smile. “You’re doing great, Ni-ki. Don’t ever forget that.”

And for the first time in a while, Ni-ki believed it.

The next morning, Ni-ki woke up feeling refreshed. The sun streamed through the curtains, and the city outside was buzzing with life. He stretched his arms and smiled, feeling ready to take on whatever the day had in store for him.

When he joined the others for breakfast, they greeted him with their usual warmth. He couldn’t help but feel grateful for them, for the bond they shared. They were more than just bandmates—they were his family.

As they prepared for another day of rehearsals, Ni-ki found himself humming along to the music, his spirits lifted. The doubts were still there, lingering at the edges of his mind, but they didn’t weigh him down like they had the night before. He knew now that he didn’t have to face them alone.

And as he stepped onto the stage once more, the bright lights shining down on him, Ni-ki felt a surge of confidence. He wasn’t perfect, but he was enough. And that was all that mattered.
