The atmosphere in the studio was tense, a far cry from the usual playful banter that accompanied their photoshoots. They were in the middle of shooting for their next album, *Romance - UNTOLD*, a concept that required them to embody deep emotions and intricate narratives. Yet, beneath the surface, another story was unfolding—one of unspoken tension between Ni-ki and Jake.

Their arguments had always been part of their dynamic, small disagreements that would resolve themselves with a laugh or an apology. But today felt different. Their latest fight had left a lingering bitterness in the air, and neither of them seemed ready to back down.

Jake sat on the edge of the studio, scrolling through his phone with an air of indifference, while Ni-ki stood a few feet away, arms crossed, staring at the floor. They hadn’t spoken a word to each other since the argument earlier that morning. The rest of the members could feel the awkwardness between them, but with the schedule pressing on, they hadn’t had the chance to address it.

“Ni-ki, you’re up next after Jake!” the photographer called out, bringing Ni-ki out of his thoughts. He nodded absentmindedly, still feeling uneasy.

Something felt off. He couldn’t shake the feeling, like a weight pressing down on his chest, making it hard to breathe. It wasn’t just the unresolved tension with Jake—something deeper was gnawing at him. A sense of foreboding that he couldn’t explain.

As Jake stepped onto the set for his turn, Ni-ki watched him from the sidelines. Jake was a natural in front of the camera, his confident poses and expressions captivating everyone in the room. Despite their argument, Ni-ki couldn’t help but admire how effortlessly Jake carried himself. But that nagging feeling of dread wouldn’t leave him.

The set was beautiful, filled with soft lighting and elegant props that matched the album’s romantic theme. Overhead, large lighting fixtures were suspended by thick cables, casting a warm glow across the room. Ni-ki’s eyes kept drifting to those lights, the uneasy feeling growing stronger with each passing second.

As Jake continued his shoot, striking pose after pose, Ni-ki’s heart began to race. His instincts screamed at him that something was wrong. His gaze fixed on one of the lighting rigs directly above Jake—a rig that seemed to be swaying ever so slightly, as if the cable holding it wasn’t secure.

Suddenly, it happened.

Ni-ki’s worst fears were realized as the cable holding the lighting fixture snapped, sending the heavy block plummeting toward Jake. Time seemed to slow down. Ni-ki’s breath caught in his throat as he saw the danger unfolding in front of him. Jake was oblivious, focused on the camera, unaware of the peril above him.

Without thinking, Ni-ki sprang into action. He didn’t have time to yell a warning. His body moved on instinct alone. He sprinted across the set, his feet barely touching the ground as he hurled himself toward Jake. Just as the lighting block was about to crash down, Ni-ki reached his hyung and shoved him out of the way with all his strength.

“Jake, move!” Ni-ki shouted, his voice desperate.

Jake stumbled forward, completely caught off guard by the force of Ni-ki’s push. He hit the floor hard, the impact jarring him, but he was safe. He looked up in confusion, just in time to see the lighting fixture crash down behind him with a deafening thud.

But Ni-ki wasn’t so lucky.

In his rush to save Jake, Ni-ki hadn’t been able to get out of the way in time. The heavy fixture clipped him as it fell, sending him sprawling to the ground with a pained cry. The room erupted into chaos as staff and members rushed forward, shouting for help.

“Ni-ki!” Jake’s voice was filled with panic as he scrambled to his feet and rushed to Ni-ki’s side. His heart pounded in his chest, fear gripping him as he saw Ni-ki lying on the floor, his face twisted in pain.

The other members gathered around, their faces pale with worry. Heeseung immediately called for an ambulance, while Sunghoon and Sunoo knelt beside Ni-ki, trying to comfort him.

“Ni-ki, stay with us,” Sunghoon said, his voice shaking. “Help is on the way.”

Ni-ki’s eyes fluttered open, his vision blurry from the pain. He could hear their voices, but everything felt distant, like he was underwater. He tried to focus on Jake, who was hovering over him, his face a mask of guilt and fear.

“Why… Why did you do that?” Jake’s voice cracked as he spoke, tears welling up in his eyes. “You could’ve gotten killed!”

Ni-ki managed a weak smile, despite the pain coursing through his body. “I couldn’t… let you get hurt, hyung. We may fight, but… you’re still my brother.”

Jake’s heart clenched at those words. The argument that had seemed so important just hours ago now felt insignificant. None of it mattered—not when Ni-ki had just risked his life to save him.

“Ni-ki, I’m so sorry,” Jake whispered, his voice breaking. “This is all my fault… If we hadn’t fought—”

“It’s not… your fault,” Ni-ki interrupted, his voice strained. “Don’t blame yourself.”

The paramedics arrived quickly, and the staff helped them carefully lift Ni-ki onto a stretcher. The members followed anxiously as Ni-ki was taken to the ambulance, their hearts heavy with worry.

Jake stayed by Ni-ki’s side the entire time, refusing to leave him even for a moment. As they rode to the hospital, Jake held Ni-ki’s hand, silently praying that his friend would be okay.

Hours later, after what felt like an eternity, the doctor came out with the news they had all been waiting for.

“Ni-ki will be okay,” the doctor said, and the relief in the room was palpable. “He has a few broken ribs and a concussion, but he’s stable. He’ll need time to recover, but he’ll be fine.”

Tears of relief filled Jake’s eyes as he thanked the doctor. When he finally saw Ni-ki, lying in the hospital bed with bandages covering his injuries, Jake couldn’t hold back his emotions any longer.

“Ni-ki… Thank you,” Jake whispered, his voice thick with gratitude and guilt. “You saved my life today. I don’t know how to repay you.”

Ni-ki smiled weakly, his voice barely above a whisper. “Just… be my hyung, like always. That’s all I need.”

Jake nodded, his heart full. From that day on, he vowed never to take his relationship with Ni-ki—or any of his members—for granted again. They were more than just a team. They were family.

And no matter what, they would always be there for each other.
