It had been an exhausting week for Enhypen. The pressure from their recent comeback and the grueling schedule had taken its toll. What started as a minor disagreement about the group's upcoming activities quickly spiraled into a full-blown argument between Sunghoon and Sunoo.
Sunghoon, usually calm and composed, was visibly frustrated. "I just don't understand why you're so insistent on changing everything at the last minute! It's not just about you, Sunoo. We all need to be on the same page."
Sunoo's face flushed with anger. "I'm just trying to make things better! Why can't you see that? We're all working hard, and I'm trying to contribute in my own way. If you can't appreciate that, then maybe we need to rethink how we're doing things!"
Their voices echoed through the dorm, the other members glancing uneasily from the sidelines. Heeseung tried to intervene, but the argument had gained too much momentum.
Sunghoon's patience snapped. "You know what? Forget it. I'm done talking about this." He stormed towards the stairs, his frustration palpable.
Sunoo's heart raced. The argument had reached a breaking point, and he felt a surge of urgency. "Wait, Sunghoon! You can't just walk away!"
In a desperate bid to prevent Sunghoon from retreating to his room, Sunoo sprinted after him. The tension and adrenaline made him reckless. As he reached the stairs, his foot caught on the edge of a step. He stumbled, arms flailing as he struggled to regain his balance.
Sunghoon, hearing the commotion, turned around just in time to see Sunoo losing his footing. Instinctively, he reached out, grabbing Sunoo's sweatshirt to pull him back. But in doing so, Sunghoon lost his balance, and the two of them were caught in a chaotic tumble.
The sound of their bodies crashing against the stairs was horrifying. Sunoo's heart pounded in his chest as he felt himself being pulled backward, desperately trying to avoid the fall. Sunghoon, though trying to protect Sunoo, had also been pulled into the precarious situation.
Sunghoon's quick reflexes saved Sunoo from a potentially dangerous fall, but in the process, he fell heavily onto the stairs, his shoulder taking the brunt of the impact. Sunoo landed on top of him, a heavy weight pressing down on Sunghoon's injured shoulder.
Sunghoon let out a choked gasp, his face contorting with pain. His body was rigid, and he grimaced as the pain surged through his shoulder. He reached up weakly, his hand finding Sunoo's back, pulling him into a protective embrace despite the agony he was in.
"Sunoo, are you okay?" Sunghoon's voice was strained, but he was more concerned about the younger member than himself.
Sunoo, breathless and in shock, scrambled to get off Sunghoon. "Sunghoon, I'm so sorry! Are you hurt? Please, tell me you're okay!"
The commotion had drawn the attention of the other members. Heeseung, Jungwon, and Ni-ki rushed down the stairs, their faces filled with alarm. They found Sunghoon lying on the stairs, clutching his shoulder, and Sunoo sitting beside him, his eyes wide with fear.
"What happened?" Heeseung's voice was a mix of concern and confusion.
Jungwon and Ni-ki quickly assessed the situation. "We need to get him to the hospital," Jungwon said, his voice trembling with urgency.
Sunoo's hands shook as he helped the others carefully lift Sunghoon. Tears streamed down his face, guilt and fear overwhelming him. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I'm so sorry, Sunghoon. Please, forgive me."
Sunghoon's face was pale, and he was clearly in intense pain, but he managed a faint smile. "It's not your fault, Sunoo. I should have handled things better. Just... focus on getting me to the hospital."
At the hospital, Sunghoon was rushed into the emergency room while Sunoo and the others waited anxiously in the waiting area. The tension was palpable, and Sunoo couldn't sit still. Every second felt like an eternity as he paced back and forth, his mind replaying the accident over and over.
Heeseung placed a hand on Sunoo's shoulder, offering a comforting squeeze. "Sunoo, it was an accident. We all know that. We'll get through this."
Hours later, a doctor emerged from the ER, looking somber. "Sunghoon's shoulder is broken. We had to put it in a cast, and he'll need physical therapy to regain full mobility. It's going to be a long recovery process, but he should be okay."
The news was a relief, but the weight of the situation still hung heavily in the air. Sunoo's heart ached as he thought of the pain Sunghoon was going through. The guilt he felt was suffocating, and he knew that it would take time to mend not just Sunghoon's injury but also the emotional wounds that had been inflicted.
In the days that followed, Sunghoon's recovery was slow but steady. He was in a lot of pain, and the cast on his shoulder was a constant reminder of the accident. Sunoo visited him daily, bringing him food, books, and company. He tried to make amends in any way he could, feeling responsible for the accident that had caused Sunghoon so much suffering.
The other members rallied around Sunghoon, offering their support and helping with his daily needs. Despite the difficult circumstances, there was a renewed sense of camaraderie within the group. The shared experience of the accident had brought them closer together, reinforcing the importance of supporting one another through thick and thin.
Sunoo continued to grapple with his guilt, but he found solace in the small acts of kindness and the gradual improvement in Sunghoon's condition. Sunghoon's resilience and forgiveness were a beacon of hope for Sunoo, reminding him that despite the pain and mistakes, there was always room for healing and redemption.
Weeks later, Sunghoon's shoulder was healing, and he was starting physical therapy. The pain was easing, and he was regaining movement, though the process was slow. Sunoo remained a constant presence by his side, offering encouragement and support.
One evening, as the group gathered for a small celebration to mark Sunghoon's progress, Sunoo took a moment to speak to him privately. "Thank you for forgiving me, Sunghoon. I don't deserve it, but I'm grateful for your understanding."
Sunghoon looked at him with a warm smile. "We all make mistakes, Sunoo. What matters is how we move forward and learn from them. We're a team, and we'll get through this together."
The words were a balm to Sunoo's wounded spirit. He knew that the road to full recovery, both physically and emotionally, was still long, but the support from his fellow members gave him hope. The bond between Sunghoon and Sunoo, tested by conflict and pain, had emerged stronger.
As they continued their journey together, the accident became a defining moment in their story-not just for the pain and challenges but for the resilience and unity that followed. Sunoo and Sunghoon, along with the rest of Enhypen, faced the future with a renewed sense of purpose, knowing that even in the darkest times, there was always the possibility of healing and growth.
