The Enhyphen dorm was buzzing with activity as usual, but on this particular morning, an unusual stillness enveloped the room. The members were preparing for another jam-packed week of promotions, rehearsals, and media appearances. Ni-ki, however, was feeling particularly overwhelmed by the relentless schedule. He had been running on fumes for weeks and longed for a break. Seeing no other way to get some rest, he decided to fake an illness.

As the sun rose, Ni-ki stirred in his bed, feeling a pang of guilt mixed with the excitement of his plan. He sighed dramatically, trying to muster enough energy to put his scheme into motion. With a groan, he shuffled into the common room, where the other members were starting their day. They were in the midst of breakfast, chatting and laughing, seemingly unaware of Ni-ki’s plan.

“Good morning,” Ni-ki croaked, his voice intentionally weak and hoarse. He slumped into a chair, clutching his stomach and pretending to wince in pain. “I don’t feel so good today.”

The members glanced over at him, their expressions shifting from surprise to concern. Jungwon was the first to react, getting up from his seat and placing a hand on Ni-ki’s forehead.

“You’re really warm,” Jungwon said, his voice laced with worry. “Maybe you should see a doctor. It might be more than just a cold.”

Ni-ki shook his head, trying to look as pitiful as possible. “It’s probably just a bug. I’ll be okay with some rest.”

The members were reluctant to leave him behind, but their schedules were tight, and they needed to stay on track. They decided to go ahead with their day’s plans, with the assurance that they would check on him later.

As the day progressed, Ni-ki’s symptoms seemed to fluctuate. He would intermittently complain of dizziness, weakness, and chills, but his condition appeared inconsistent. At times, he would even seem to perk up, only to slump back into his act of illness shortly after. The members began to grow skeptical, particularly Heeseung, who had always been the most discerning.

By the third day of Ni-ki’s “illness,” his symptoms appeared more severe. He developed a high fever, persistent cough, and trouble breathing. He became increasingly withdrawn, spending most of his time in his room, wrapped in blankets. Despite his worsening condition, the other members began to doubt whether his illness was as serious as he claimed.

Sunoo, who had been particularly attentive, noticed Ni-ki’s erratic behavior. “Heeseung, don’t you think something’s off?” Sunoo asked, his concern evident. “His symptoms come and go too quickly. Maybe we should get him checked out

Ni-ki attempted to argue but found himself too fatigued to continue. Eventually, Heeseung and the others insisted, and they took Ni-ki to the nearest hospital. Despite their lingering doubts, the members knew it was better to be safe than sorry.

At the hospital, Ni-ki underwent a thorough examination. The doctors quickly determined that he was suffering from a serious respiratory infection, compounded by severe dehydration. His condition had deteriorated because he had been trying to push through the illness without proper care.

The members waited the doctor to come and go to see their maknae.
