The rain tapped incessantly against the windows of the dorm, creating a low, rhythmic hum that filled the quiet room. Jay lay on the couch, his face pale and slick with sweat. His breaths were shallow, and his skin was clammy. The others watched over him with worry etched into their faces.

Heeseung sat on the floor next to the couch, his hand occasionally reaching up to touch Jay’s forehead, checking his temperature. “He’s burning up,” Heeseung said, his voice tight with concern. “We need to keep his fever down. Sunoo, can you bring more wet towels?”

Sunoo nodded and quickly left the room. Jungwon hovered nearby, wringing his hands. “Should we call the doctor again? His fever hasn’t gone down much since this morning.”

“We just have to keep an eye on him for now,” Heeseung replied, though the uncertainty in his voice was hard to miss.

Sunghoon, who had been sitting quietly by the window, suddenly stood up. “I’m going out to get more medicine and snacks. Maybe something easy on his stomach,” he said, grabbing his coat from the back of the chair.

The room fell silent as everyone turned to look at him. “You’re going out now?” Jungwon asked, his brow furrowed.

“Yes,” Sunghoon replied, slipping his arms into the coat. “We’re running low on supplies, and Jay needs—”

“You’re just going to leave like that?” Sunoo interjected, his tone sharp as he reentered the room with wet towels. “He’s our responsibility right now, Sunghoon. We should all be here with him.”

“I know that,” Sunghoon said, a hint of defensiveness creeping into his voice. “But we also need medicine, and I don’t see anyone else offering to go.”

Heeseung shook his head. “This isn’t about that. It just seems like… I don’t know, like you’re trying to avoid being here.”

Sunghoon’s face flushed with anger. “That’s not true! I’m just trying to help in the way I can.”

“But you always do this,” Sunoo said, his eyes narrowing. “You always find a way to distance yourself when things get tough. It’s like you can’t handle being close to us when we really need you.”

Sunghoon’s hands clenched into fists. “I’m not running away. I just—” His voice cracked, and he struggled to find the right words. “I just want to do something useful.”

“By leaving?” Jungwon asked, his tone dripping with disbelief.

Jake, who had been standing near the door, finally stepped forward. He could see that this argument was spiraling out of control. Sunghoon’s anxiety was written all over his face, and the last thing they needed was to turn on each other when Jay was in such a vulnerable state.

“Enough,” Jake said firmly, silencing the room. He turned to Sunghoon, his expression softening. “I’ll go with you.”

Sunghoon looked at him, a mixture of relief and confusion in his eyes. “Jake, you don’t have to—”

“I know you don’t like going out alone, especially with all the saesangs and paparazzi around,” Jake said, cutting him off. “So, I’ll go with you. We’ll be quick, and then we’ll get back here and take care of Jay together.”

The others exchanged glances, their anger diffusing somewhat. Heeseung sighed. “Fine. But please, hurry back. We’ll take care of things here.”

Sunghoon nodded, grateful for the support. “Thanks, Jake,” he mumbled as they both left the dorm, stepping out into the rain.
