The night was dark, cold, and unusually silent. The city had calmed down after a busy day, and most of the lights in the dorms had been switched off. The only glow came from the room where Jay sat, his figure hunched over the small desk in the corner. His guitar, a constant companion during times of stress, lay untouched beside him. His fingers usually found comfort in strumming its strings, but tonight, even music couldn’t ease the tension building up inside him.

For weeks, Jay had been pushing himself to his absolute limits. Between rehearsals, schedules, and constantly trying to improve both his dancing and vocal abilities, he had barely been sleeping. The pressure of being an idol was relentless, and Jay, though strong, had felt its weight more heavily than usual. He kept telling himself he had to be better—he had to work harder. There was no room for error, not in the competitive world they lived in.

The rest of the group had noticed Jay’s change in behavior. He was quieter, more withdrawn. During practice, he’d become more intense, sometimes to the point of being obsessive about perfecting every small detail. He rarely smiled, and his usual playful banter had all but disappeared. But every time one of the members tried to check on him, Jay would brush them off, insisting he was fine.

In reality, he wasn’t fine.

His body was worn out, his mind was scattered, and the stress was eating him alive. His head constantly pounded, and he’d developed a dull ache in his chest that he chalked up to fatigue. But more than anything, Jay was haunted by an overwhelming sense of inadequacy. He didn’t feel like he was doing enough for the group, for the fans, or even for himself. That pressure—self-inflicted but very real—was driving him further into a downward spiral.

One night, after an especially brutal practice session, Jay stood up too quickly and felt the world around him spin. He caught himself on the wall, breathing heavily, his vision blurring at the edges. His heart raced in his chest, and for a moment, he thought he might pass out. He’d been feeling light-headed for days, but this was different. His body was screaming at him to stop, but Jay had learned to ignore those warning signs. He had to keep going, no matter what.

He leaned against the wall, his breath coming in short, sharp gasps. The pain in his chest was sharper now, radiating down his arm. Sweat dripped from his forehead, and a cold chill ran through his body. He clenched his jaw, refusing to let his body betray him. He couldn’t show weakness—not now.

But then, it happened.

As he tried to push himself off the wall, his legs gave out beneath him. He crumpled to the floor, a wave of nausea washing over him. His vision went black for a moment, and when it returned, he realized he couldn’t move. His entire body felt heavy, like he was sinking into the ground. The pain in his chest was unbearable now, sharp and unrelenting. Panic gripped him, but he couldn’t cry out for help.

His mind raced as he lay there, gasping for breath. The world around him felt distant, fading in and out. He could hear faint footsteps in the hallway, but they seemed so far away, as if they were coming from another world. He wanted to call out, but his voice wouldn’t come. It was as if his body had completely shut down, leaving him trapped in his own agony.

Minutes passed, or maybe it was hours—Jay couldn’t tell. Time had become a blur, lost in the haze of pain and fear. Just when he thought he couldn’t hold on any longer, the door to the room creaked open.

"Jay?"

It was Sunghoon’s voice, soft but concerned. He must have come looking for Jay when he noticed he hadn’t returned to the dorms. The sight that greeted Sunghoon made his heart stop. Jay, usually so strong and composed, was lying motionless on the floor, his face pale, his breaths shallow.

"Jay!" Sunghoon rushed to his side, shaking him gently. "What happened? Are you okay? Jay, answer me!"

But Jay couldn’t respond. He was conscious, but barely. His chest burned with every breath, and his limbs felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. He could hear Sunghoon’s voice, but it sounded muffled, like it was coming from underwater.

Sunghoon fumbled for his phone, hands shaking as he dialed the other members. Within minutes, the dorm was in chaos. Heeseung, Jake, Ni-ki, Sunoo, and Jungwon all rushed into the room, their faces filled with panic as they saw Jay’s condition.

"We need to get him to the hospital," Heeseung said, his voice steady despite the fear in his eyes. "Now."

Jake and Sunghoon carefully lifted Jay, supporting him between them as they hurried to the car. The entire ride to the hospital was a blur of sirens, flashing lights, and frantic whispers. Jay drifted in and out of consciousness, his body limp and unresponsive.

At the hospital, doctors and nurses swarmed around him, hooking him up to machines and running tests. The members watched helplessly from the waiting room, fear gripping their hearts. They had never seen Jay like this before—so vulnerable, so broken. He was always the one who took care of them, who made sure everyone was okay. But now, it was Jay who needed them, and they didn’t know how to help.

Hours passed before the doctor finally came out, his expression serious but calm.

"How is he?" Heeseung asked, standing up immediately.

The doctor sighed. "He’s stable now, but he’s severely dehydrated and his body is exhausted. His heart was under a lot of stress, likely due to overexertion. He’s lucky you got him here when you did."

The relief was palpable, but so was the guilt. They had all seen Jay pushing himself too hard, but none of them had realized just how bad it had gotten. They hadn’t known how much he had been struggling.

"He’ll need to rest for a while," the doctor continued. "His body needs time to recover, and he should avoid any strenuous activity for the next few weeks."

The members nodded, each of them silently promising themselves that they wouldn’t let Jay go through this alone again. They wouldn’t let him carry the weight of the world on his shoulders without helping him.

When they were finally allowed to see him, Jay was awake, though still weak. He looked up at them as they entered the room, his eyes heavy with exhaustion.

"Hey," he croaked, managing a small, tired smile.

"Hey, yourself," Jake said, sitting down beside him. "You scared us, you know that?"

Jay sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. "Sorry."

"Don’t apologize," Heeseung said gently. "We should be the ones saying sorry. We should have noticed how hard you were pushing yourself."

Jay shook his head weakly. "I didn’t want to burden anyone. I just… I felt like I wasn’t doing enough."

"Jay," Sunghoon said softly, his voice filled with emotion. "You’re enough. You’ve always been enough. You don’t have to prove anything to us, or to anyone else."

The others nodded in agreement, each of them looking at Jay with a mixture of guilt and affection. They had taken him for granted, assumed he was always okay because he never showed weakness. But now they realized that even the strongest among them needed support sometimes.

"We’re going to take care of you," Ni-ki said firmly, his voice uncharacteristically serious. "You’re not alone, hyung."

Jay smiled weakly, tears welling up in his eyes. For the first time in weeks, the pressure on his chest lifted—not just from the physical strain, but from the weight of his own insecurities. He had been carrying so much by himself, but now he knew he didn’t have to anymore.

The members stayed with him through the night, taking turns sitting by his side, making sure he was comfortable. They talked quietly, shared stories, and even managed to make Jay laugh despite the pain he was in.

And in that quiet hospital room, surrounded by the people he cared about most, Jay realized something important: he didn’t have to be perfect. He didn’t have to be strong all the time. He was enough, just as he was.

And no matter what, his brothers would always be there to remind him of that.
