The practice room echoed with the sound of pounding music and synchronized footsteps as ENHYPEN went through their routine for the hundredth time that day. They were exhausted, but they pushed forward, driven by their desire for perfection. The new choreography was intense, filled with sharp movements and intricate footwork that left little room for error.

Jungwon, ever the diligent leader, was at the front of the group, leading by example. He knew that as the leader, he had to set the pace, show his members that hard work was the only way to achieve greatness. But today, something was off. His foot slipped during a particularly fast turn, and a sharp pain shot through his ankle. He bit his lip to keep from crying out, trying to ignore the throbbing that immediately followed.

"Again!" their choreographer called out, his voice stern. "You’re still missing the timing on the transitions. Jungwon, you need to be sharper!"

Jungwon nodded, trying to focus on the corrections. The pain in his ankle was growing, but he didn’t want to draw attention to it. The others were working so hard, and the last thing he wanted was to seem like he couldn’t keep up. After all, he was the leader.

As the group started the routine again, Jungwon forced himself to push through the pain. Every step felt like a knife twisting in his ankle, but he kept going, his face betraying nothing. He couldn’t afford to let the others down.

"Jungwon, what’s wrong with you today?" the choreographer barked after they finished another round. "You’re off-beat, and your movements are sloppy. This isn’t like you!"

"I’m sorry, hyung," Jungwon replied, his voice strained. "I’ll do better."

The choreographer shook his head, clearly frustrated. "You need to focus. We don’t have time for mistakes."

The other members looked at Jungwon with concern, but no one said anything. They assumed he was just having an off day, something that happened to all of them from time to time. No one noticed the way he was favoring his right leg, or how his movements had become more careful and restrained.

Jungwon gritted his teeth as they started the routine again. The pain was becoming unbearable, but he refused to stop. He had to prove that he could push through, that he could lead by example. But with every step, his ankle screamed in protest.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, their practice ended. The choreographer gave them a brief nod before leaving, satisfied that they had made some progress despite the rough start. The members collapsed onto the floor, exhausted and drenched in sweat.

Jungwon sat down slowly, careful not to put too much weight on his injured ankle. His entire leg throbbed now, and he could feel his heartbeat pulsing in the swollen joint. He tried to hide his discomfort, but Sunghoon noticed the way he was holding his leg.

"Jungwon, are you okay?" Sunghoon asked, his voice laced with concern. "You’ve been off all day."

Jungwon forced a smile. "Yeah, I’m fine. Just tired, I guess."

"You sure?" Jake added, eyeing him suspiciously. "You don’t look so good."

"I’m fine," Jungwon repeated, a little more firmly this time. He didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. Besides, he knew they had another long day of practice tomorrow, and he couldn’t afford to be sidelined.

The members seemed to accept his answer, though they still looked worried. As they gathered their things and prepared to head back to the dorm, Jungwon silently debated what to do. The pain in his ankle hadn’t subsided—it had only gotten worse. But he didn’t want to make a fuss, and he certainly didn’t want to slow down their progress.

Once they got back to the dorm, Jungwon pretended to go to bed early, but instead, he slipped out quietly and hailed a cab to the nearest hospital. The ride felt like it took forever, every bump in the road sending jolts of pain through his leg.

At the hospital, after a long wait and a few X-rays, the doctor finally came back with the results. Jungwon’s heart sank as he saw the serious expression on the doctor’s face.

"You’ve severely sprained your ankle, and it’s dangerously close to a full fracture," the doctor said, showing him the X-ray. "You’re lucky you came in when you did. If you’d kept putting weight on it, you might’ve broken it entirely."

Jungwon stared at the X-ray, guilt gnawing at him. He had pushed himself too hard, and now he was paying the price. The doctor gave him strict instructions to rest and avoid any strenuous activity for several weeks. His ankle was put in a cast, and he was given crutches to help him move around.

By the time Jungwon returned to the dorm, it was late. He tried to sneak in quietly, but the sound of his crutches on the floor woke up Heeseung, who was still up watching TV.

"Jungwon? What happened?!" Heeseung exclaimed, his eyes wide as he took in the sight of Jungwon’s cast.

The noise quickly brought the rest of the members out of their rooms. They gathered around, all of them talking at once, their concern palpable.

"Why didn’t you tell us your ankle was this bad?" Sunghoon asked, his voice filled with worry.

"We thought you were just tired!" Sunoo added, guilt evident on his face.

Jungwon sighed, leaning on his crutches. "I didn’t want to slow us down… And I didn’t think it was that serious. I just thought it was a sprain."

"You should’ve told us," Jungwon said softly, his expression serious. "You’re our leader, but that doesn’t mean you have to push yourself until you break. We’re a team—we look out for each other."

Jungwon nodded, feeling a wave of emotion wash over him. He had been so focused on being strong for the group that he had forgotten it was okay to ask for help sometimes.

"We’ll talk to the company and reschedule practice," Jake said, already pulling out his phone. "You need to rest."

The others nodded in agreement, and Jungwon couldn’t help but smile, even through the pain. He had tried to bear the weight of his responsibilities alone, but in the end, his members had his back. And that was all that mattered.

As he sat down on the couch, his ankle propped up on a pillow, Jungwon felt a sense of relief. He didn’t have to do this alone. They were a team, and they would get through this together.
