The lights dimmed as the crowd’s excitement buzzed through the massive arena. ENHYPEN was about to perform their final song of the night, and the anticipation in the air was electric. The stage was set, and the intricate choreography, along with the pyrotechnics, promised a spectacular ending to an unforgettable show. Jay, always confident and professional, stood at his mark, ready to give it his all.

The music started, and the familiar beats of their hit song reverberated through the stadium. The fans screamed, waving light sticks and singing along, their energy fueling the members on stage. Jay moved with precision, his body flowing with the rhythm as he hit each step perfectly. The members danced in sync, their expressions a mix of concentration and exhilaration.

Everything was going smoothly until the bridge of the song, where the stage was set to explode with fireworks and bursts of flames—a powerful visual to match the song's intensity. The cue for the pyrotechnics was perfectly timed with the choreography, and Jay had rehearsed this moment countless times. But live performances had their unpredictabilities, and tonight was one of those nights.

As Jay leaped to the front of the stage, something went horribly wrong. The fireworks that were supposed to shoot up into the air malfunctioned. Instead of erupting harmlessly above, one of the fiery sparks exploded too close to the stage. Jay, who was mid-turn, didn’t see it coming. A sharp, searing pain shot through his side as the firework grazed his skin, the heat burning through his outfit.

The pain was instant and excruciating. Jay’s breath hitched as he stumbled, his hand instinctively reaching for his side. The music continued, and for a moment, the other members didn’t realize what had happened. Jay, ever the professional, tried to keep going, but the pain was overwhelming. His vision blurred, and he could feel his body weakening.

Jungwon, who was closest to Jay, noticed the sudden change in his movements. He turned his head just in time to see Jay falter, his face pale and contorted in pain. Panic surged through him as he quickly rushed over, breaking formation. The audience, still lost in the performance, didn’t immediately realize what was happening, but the members did. The look of fear in Jungwon’s eyes was enough to alert the rest of the group that something was terribly wrong.

"Jay! Are you okay?" Jungwon’s voice was barely audible over the music, but his concern was evident. Jay could only shake his head weakly, his hand pressed against his side, where the fabric of his costume was singed and sticking to his skin.

The staff backstage noticed the commotion and quickly cut the music. The stage lights dimmed, and an announcer came over the speakers, asking the audience to remain calm. But the damage was done—Jay was hurt, and the show had come to an abrupt halt.

The members gathered around Jay, their faces filled with worry. Sunghoon knelt beside him, his hands shaking as he tried to assess the situation. "We need help! Now!" he shouted, his voice cracking with urgency.

The medics were already on their way, but those few minutes felt like an eternity. Jay’s breathing was shallow, and every movement sent waves of pain through his body. He tried to reassure the others, tried to tell them he was okay, but the words wouldn’t come. The pain was too much.

Jungwon gripped Jay’s hand, his heart pounding in his chest. As the leader, he felt an overwhelming sense of responsibility, and seeing one of his members in so much pain tore at him. "Stay with us, Jay. Help is coming," he whispered, his voice trembling.

The medics finally arrived, quickly assessing Jay’s injury. The firework had caused a severe burn along his side, and they needed to get him to the hospital immediately. The members were reluctant to leave his side, but the medics assured them that Jay would be in good hands.

As Jay was carefully lifted onto a stretcher, he reached out, his hand finding Jake’s. Jake squeezed his hand tightly, his eyes filled with tears. "We’ll be right behind you, Jay. Hang in there," he said, his voice choked with emotion.

Jay nodded weakly, trying to muster a small smile for his friends, but the pain was too overwhelming. The last thing he saw before his vision faded was the worried faces of his brothers, standing together, their support giving him the strength to hold on.

The ride to the hospital was a blur for Jay, the pain ebbing in and out of his consciousness. The medics worked quickly, stabilizing him as best they could, but he could feel the burn throbbing with every beat of his heart. By the time they arrived at the hospital, Jay was barely aware of his surroundings.

Back at the venue, the rest of the members were a wreck. They had finished the concert hastily, apologizing to the fans and promising updates on Jay’s condition. Now, they sat in the hospital waiting room, the minutes dragging on like hours. Sunoo sat with his head in his hands, trying to hold back tears. Sunghoon paced back and forth, his fists clenched in frustration. Ni-ki stared at the floor, his usual playful demeanor replaced by a heavy silence.

Jungwon sat beside Jake, his mind racing with guilt and fear. He couldn’t stop replaying the moment in his head—the sight of Jay collapsing, the look of pain on his face. "I should have done something," Jungwon whispered, his voice barely audible.

Jake turned to him, shaking his head. "There was nothing you could’ve done, Jungwon. It was an accident… a horrible accident."

"But I’m the leader," Jungwon said, his voice cracking. "I’m supposed to protect you guys… and I couldn’t."

Jake placed a comforting hand on Jungwon’s shoulder. "We’re all in this together. You’ve always taken care of us, and right now, we just have to trust that Jay’s going to be okay. He’s strong, Jungwon. He’ll pull through this."

Hours later, the doctor finally came out to speak with them. The members jumped to their feet, their hearts pounding as they waited for the news.

"Jay is stable," the doctor began, and a collective sigh of relief washed over the group. "He sustained second-degree burns along his side. We’ve treated the burns, and he’s going to be okay, but he’ll need time to heal. It’s going to be a painful recovery, but with the right care, he’ll make a full recovery."

The weight of the doctor’s words settled over the members, the relief mixing with a lingering worry. Jay was safe, but the road ahead wouldn’t be easy. They thanked the doctor and asked to see him, their hearts heavy but hopeful.

When they entered Jay’s hospital room, they found him lying in bed, his eyes half-open, his side heavily bandaged. He looked tired and in pain, but when he saw his members, a weak smile tugged at his lips.

"Hey, guys," Jay croaked, his voice hoarse.

Jungwon was the first to reach his side, gently taking Jay’s hand. "Hey, Jay. How are you feeling?"

Jay chuckled softly, though it quickly turned into a wince. "Like I got hit by a firework… oh, wait…"

The others couldn’t help but laugh, though the sound was tinged with relief and emotion. Even in pain, Jay was still himself—strong, resilient, and always trying to lighten the mood.

"We were so worried about you," Sunoo said, his voice shaky as he fought back tears. "Don’t scare us like that again."

"I’ll try my best," Jay replied with a small smile. "I’m sorry I messed up the show…"

"Stop it," Jake interrupted, shaking his head. "None of that matters. We just want you to get better. The rest can wait."

The room fell into a comfortable silence as the members gathered around Jay’s bed, each of them silently promising to be there for him through every step of his recovery. They knew it would be a tough journey, but they also knew that with each other’s support, they could get through anything.

Jay closed his eyes, feeling the warmth of his brothers around him. Despite the pain, despite everything that had happened, he felt a sense of peace. He knew that he wasn’t alone—that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.

Because that’s what family did.
