When Enhypen debuted, it was supposed to be one of the happiest moments in Sunoo's life. After years of hard work, training, and sacrifice, he finally stood on stage as a member of a globally anticipated group. But instead of feeling triumphant, Sunoo felt a growing sense of unease, something he couldn’t quite shake. His excitement was gradually replaced by a lingering emptiness.

At first, he thought it was just the overwhelming pressure of their debut. The long hours, constant rehearsals, and relentless schedule were all new and exhausting. But as days turned into weeks, Sunoo began to notice subtle differences in how he was treated compared to the other members. Small things at first: he was often overlooked during conversations, his ideas for choreography or performances were dismissed without much thought, and during breaks, he found himself sitting alone more often than not.

The other members—Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, and Ni-ki—seemed to bond effortlessly. They laughed and joked around, shared stories, and leaned on each other during tough moments. Sunoo tried to join in, but it felt like there was an invisible barrier keeping him on the outside. No matter how hard he tried to connect with them, he always felt like he was intruding, like he didn’t quite belong.

At first, Sunoo brushed it off, telling himself that it would get better with time. But it didn’t. The more he was left out, the more he started to withdraw into himself. He became quieter, less eager to participate in group activities. He spent more and more time in his room, alone with his thoughts.

The nights were the hardest. In the silence of the dorm, Sunoo often found himself staring at the ceiling, tears rolling down his cheeks. He would cry quietly, not wanting the others to hear. He didn’t want to burden them with his feelings; after all, they seemed happy and focused on their own goals. But the loneliness gnawed at him, growing stronger with each passing day.

The fans—ENGENEs—were another source of pain. While many of them showered the group with love and support, there was a vocal minority who didn’t hold back their negative opinions. Sunoo, in particular, seemed to attract a disproportionate amount of hate. He would scroll through social media, seeing comments that pierced his heart:

“Why is Sunoo even in the group? He’s useless.”
“He’s not as talented as the others.”
“He doesn’t fit in. The group would be better without him.”

At first, Sunoo tried to ignore the hate, but it became increasingly difficult. The cruel words echoed in his mind, reinforcing the doubts he already had about himself. He began to believe that maybe the fans were right. Maybe he didn’t belong in Enhypen. Maybe the others had realized it too, and that’s why they were keeping their distance.

One night, after another exhausting day of rehearsals, Sunoo sat in his room, staring at his reflection in the mirror. His eyes were red from crying, and his shoulders slumped with the weight of his thoughts. He couldn’t keep living like this—feeling like a burden, like an outsider in his own group. He made a decision that night, one that had been forming in the back of his mind for weeks: he would leave Enhypen.

The next morning, Sunoo quietly approached their manager, asking for a private meeting. He was nervous, his heart pounding in his chest, but he felt it was the right decision. He explained his feelings—how he had been struggling, how he felt like he didn’t belong, how he thought it would be best for everyone if he left the group.

Their manager listened carefully, concern evident in his eyes. He tried to persuade Sunoo to reconsider, but Sunoo’s resolve was firm. The manager agreed to give him some time to think it over before making any final decisions, suggesting that Sunoo take a few days off to clear his mind.

That evening, when the other members returned to the dorm, they immediately sensed that something was off. Sunoo’s room, usually closed off, was open and unusually tidy. His suitcase was neatly packed in the corner, as if he was preparing to leave.

"Hey, Sunoo?" Jungwon asked, knocking softly on his door. "Are you okay? You've been really quiet lately, and now... this." His voice trailed off as he glanced around the room.

Sunoo looked up from his bed, forcing a small smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just... thinking about some stuff."

The others started to gather around, concern etched on their faces. Heeseung, always the leader, spoke next. "Sunoo, if something’s bothering you, you can talk to us. We’ve noticed you’ve been distancing yourself, and... we’re worried."

Sunoo hesitated. He had planned to leave quietly, not wanting to make a scene or cause any drama. But seeing their genuine concern made him pause. He realized he couldn’t just walk away without explaining himself, even if it hurt.

"I... I’ve been feeling like I don’t belong here," Sunoo admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I know you guys don’t mean to, but... I feel left out a lot. And then the fans... they say things, and... I just started believing them. That maybe I shouldn’t be in Enhypen. Maybe I’m not good enough."

The room fell silent. The members were stunned, their expressions shifting from confusion to regret. They hadn’t realized the extent of Sunoo’s pain, how deeply he had been affected by their actions—or lack thereof. Jay was the first to speak up, his voice filled with guilt.

"Sunoo, I’m so sorry. We never meant to make you feel that way. Honestly, I thought you were just being quiet because you were tired or something... I had no idea you were struggling this much."

Jake stepped forward, placing a hand on Sunoo’s shoulder. "We care about you, Sunoo. You’re our brother. We wouldn’t be the same without you. I’m sorry if we made you feel like you didn’t belong—because you do. We need you."

Tears welled up in Sunoo’s eyes as the weight of their words sank in. He had been so consumed by his own fears and insecurities that he hadn’t considered that maybe the others didn’t see him the way he saw himself.

Sunghoon, who had always been a bit more reserved, finally spoke up. "Sunoo, you’re one of the most talented and kind-hearted people I know. I’m sorry for not showing it more. We’re all here because we’re a team, and you’re an important part of that."

Ni-ki, the youngest, looked at Sunoo with wide, pleading eyes. "Hyung, please don’t leave. We’ll do better. I promise."

The sincerity in their voices broke down the walls Sunoo had built around himself. For the first time in weeks, he felt like maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t as alone as he had thought.

Their manager, who had been quietly listening from the doorway, stepped in. "Sunoo, I think it’s clear that the group doesn’t want you to go. And I think deep down, you don’t really want to leave either. You’ve all worked too hard to get here together. So why don’t you take some time, and all of you can work on communicating better? We’ll get through this as a team."

Sunoo looked around at his bandmates, his brothers, and saw the worry and love in their eyes. The loneliness that had plagued him began to fade, replaced by a sense of belonging he had longed for. He realized that he didn’t want to leave, that he didn’t want to give up on the dream they had all fought so hard for.

With a shaky breath, Sunoo nodded. "Okay. I’ll stay. But... I need you guys to promise me something. If I ever feel like this again... can we talk about it? I don’t want to go through this alone anymore."

Heeseung nodded, his eyes shining with determination. "Of course, Sunoo. We’re here for you, always. We won’t let you feel like that again."

The group gathered around Sunoo, pulling him into a tight, reassuring hug. In that moment, Sunoo knew that he had made the right decision. The road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but with the support of his friends—his family—he knew he could face whatever challenges came their way.

As they stood together, united in their promise to be there for each other, Sunoo finally felt a sense of peace. He wasn’t alone. He never had been. And with the strength of their bond, he knew they could overcome anything—together.
