Not edited...sorry!

The weekend passed and ultimately took Amil's short lived vacation with it. Before she knew it, she was heading back to work for her morning shift. With sleepy eyes, she slowly made her way through the Chick-fil-A line, moving closer and closer to obtaining her breakfast. Amil looked at her phone, hoping to see a reply from Mei before she left the line. She offered her breakfast this morning, only to not receive a response, which was weird considering they were both up for their shifts.

Amil briefly looked to her left to see the mobile lane moving a lot faster than the lane she was in. This was her experience every time she frequented the fast food chain. She'd always announce that she was going to start using their mobile order feature, but never did. Amil sat her phone down after noticing one of the employees heading to her car. Off the strength of courtesy, a smile decorated her face as she rolled the window down. "Order for Zion?" The young lady questioned, making Amil's heart briefly pause at the mention of her exes name. This was something she'd been doing since the breakup that she thought would slowly wane by now, but it hadn't. Every time she heard his name, her body reacted.

Confused, the employee looked at the name on the bag before looking back at Amil. "Zion W?" She questioned, Amil shook her head yes, remembering that she'd taken over his account after discovering the amount of points he was harboring. "Thank you." Amil replied, reaching first for the white paper bag and then her bottle of simply orange juice. They shared one last smile before Amil rolled her window back up and continued with heading to work.

A long drawn out sigh fell from her mouth before she pursed her lips together. "God, please help me get over this man." She spoke aloud, hoping that maybe she'd be granted some assistance. Though they hadn't spoken, Zion was still on Amil's mind. Throughout the day, she wondered his whereabouts. Amil had it so bad, she was even thinking about his dog. Her heart was simultaneously aching because of him and for him.

Momentarily, Amil arrived at work and snagged her usual parking spot. She grabbed both her work bag and food before hopping out of her vehicle, being sure to lock it before heading inside, where she instantly caught eyes with Mei upon stepping over the threshold. "GoodMorning—girl, I was texting you to see if you wanted some breakfast." Amil announced, only to not receive a response from her friend. Almost instantly, she picked up on animosity from Mei. Her lack of response via text and in person spoke volumes to Amil.

Amil didn't give it too much mind, there wasn't much that Mei could be upset with her for, and frankly, Amil was dealing with too much to be trying to figure out why a grown ass woman was upset with her. She had few moments to spare, so she headed to the break room to enjoy her breakfast before she had to clock in. To accompany her meal, she propped her phone up and continued with the episode of Ugly Betty that she was watching before she went to sleep last night. In the process of doing so, she noticed Mei followed her into the break room.

Zero words were exchanged between the two, only a heaping amount of tension from Mei that was thick enough to cut with a knife. "Something wrong with you?" Amil quizzed, lightly shaking her bottle of juice before removing the green lid, followed by the protective shield. "Why you ask that?" Mei aloofly quizzed back.

Amil kissed her teeth and waved Mei off. "Alright, Mei. Get the fuck on then—cause I'm asking you, and you know that you acting weird." She argued, irritated with Mei trying to deny her very obvious attitude. "If you ain't gon' say what's on yo' chest, then get from 'round me huffing and puffing and shit." She added. While her reaction may have been a bit unwarranted, it was a direct result of how her frustrations were manifesting through the way she dealt with things.

"Do you and Omari like each other or something?" Mei questioned, urging Amil's eyes to tightly furrow together. "You started dry acting weird cause you think I like Omari?" Amil quizzed in disbelief, shocked that those words were even coming out of her mouth this morning. This was the downside of having a boy best friend. This wasn't the first time she heard this question and it wouldn't be the last. It was foreign to people to see a man and woman be friends without previously being intimate or secret motives to be intimate one day. Neither of those were the duo's situation. They were strictly friends and considered each other family on most occasions.
