Evi:
I wrap the towel around my body and walk to my room.
I put on a skinny jeans, an oversized sweater and low boots.
I take my phone from my desk and open my messages with Bill.

Evi: Are you home?

I put my phone in my back pocket as I leave my room and run downstairs.
When I feel my phone vibrating I take it out of my back pocket while I keep walking to the kitchen.

'Hi mom." I say without looking at her and read the message from Bill. "Where is dad?"
"Working." She says, clearly annoyed.
"At Christmas day?" I look at her in confusion.
"They had some problems, apparently." She sighs deeply.

"Are dinner plans still up?" I ask while I start typing on my phone.
"Of course they are still up. If your dad can't make it, it's just the three of us."
I nod. "Okay, I have to go."

"Where are you going?" I turn around, a little surprised by this question. She never asks where I'm going since we moved here.
"Bill."
"I see."
"I have to return something that's his. We are still friends."

My mom nods and looks at me, concern noticible on her face. "And what's going on between you and Tom?"
"Nothing!" I say way to quickly which makes it sound suspicious.
She nods. "As long as you're being careful."

"Mom!" I look at her with wide eyes.
"I was young once, I know how these things go." She continues.
"Mom! Stop!" I cover my ears and start walking away. "Home at six!" I hear her calling and I close the door behind me.

I sigh deeply and walk to our neighbours house. I hesitate for a moment before I ring the doorbell.
"Hi." I put a little smile on my face and look at Bill who's standing in front of me.
"Can I come in?"
"Of course." He says softly and steps aside to let me in.

I walk to the living room, followed by Bill.
"This is yours." I extend my hand, which is clenched into a fist, out to him. He opens his hand and I open my fist, which causes the ring to fall onto his hand.

"How did you-"
"I went looking for it."
"Why?"
"I thought you might regret leaving it there. I know how much you love that ring."
"Thank you." He says in a soft voice and looks at me with a smile on his face.

He puts the ring back on his right middle finger.
"I don't deserve you being this nice to me." He mumbles.
"I'm not angry anymore." I say while I keep eye contact with him.

"Are you busy? I wanna show you something."
"I have to be home at six, but no plans."
He grabs my hand and guides me to his car.
"Where are we going?" I ask as I look through the car window.
"You'll see."

"Right there, that's our studio." Bill gets out of his car and opens the door for me when I keep staring at the building.
I get out of the car and hear Bill slamming the door behind me.
He takes my hand again as he starts walking to the building.

"What is it that you wanna show me?"
"Give me a second." Bill starts rumbling around the studio. I follow his every move.
"Sit down." He says and I'm a little surprised by his commanding tone.

He pushes a few more buttons and music starts to play. He sits down on the high chair in front of me, closing his eyes.
He starts singing, softly and with a touch of nervousness in his voice.

"Fire in the sky, shadows unite
The world is outside, we hide
Beats fight the war
Close the door, close the door
Searching for the cure on the floor

Tears fallin' down
Underground, underground
Following the sound of the crowd
Reflection of the light
In your eyes, in your eyes
We are rising high, tonight!
We found us, us
In this club, club
We found us, us
It hurts, but it feels right."

As he stops singing he opens his eyes again, the music still playing in the background.
"What is this?" I stammer.
"A new song I was working on. It's not finished yet." He gets up from the high chair and walks my way. "It's about when I first met you. I stopped working on it after-"

He stops talking and makes eyes contact with me. I look up to him and get up from my chair as well. I take a step forward, still looking into his eyes.

"You were right." I say as I take another step closer to him. "We can't be friends."
I feel his warm hand on my cheeks, his thumb gently caressing my skin.
"I don't wanna be your friend." He says.

Fuck what I said yesterday, fuck Brenda.
I make myself taller and firmly press my lips on his. I feel him kissing me back and I bury my hand in his hair.

The kiss gets more intense and I willingly open my mouth when I feel Bill's tongue against my lips.

He pulls me up and puts me down on the desk, the buttons pressing into my skin.
I wrap my legs around his waist, pulling his body closer to mine.

I stop the kiss and open my eyes, looking straight into Bill's eyes. "Break up with Brenda."
I hate how pleading I sound, but I can't help how badly I want him.
"I can't."

I turn my gaze away and let go of him, putting my hands on the desk I'm still sitting on.
"Hey," he whispers while he caresses my cheek. "I love you.. but I can't break up with Brenda."
"Why? I don't understand." I look at him again.
"Can you just.. trust me?"
"I'm not sure I can." I whisper in a soft voice.

"I can't blame you." He let's go of me and I get up from the desk.
"I love you, Bill."
"I love you, Evi."
"Nothing you say will ever change that." I say, trying to make him tell me what's going on.
"I will always love you." He says before putting his lips on mine again.

I put my arms around his neck and kiss him back before I lean back a little.
"Can you sing the song for me again?"
He smiles at me and nods.
