-Chapter Eight-
I'm getting addicted.Jungkook felt a strange mix of surprise and intrigue. It was bold—perhaps too bold—but there was something undeniably captivating about her carefree attitude. He shook his head, trying to regain his composure.
"Do you always drink from other people's cups?" he asked, his voice irate but edged with curiosity.
Kenzie shrugged, an impish smile on her lips. "Only when the coffee needs a little extra warmth," she replied sassily.
"Ms. Zade, I have asked you to lose your nervous grip, not your professional one," he exclaimed, raising his tone as he glared at her.
Kenzie folded her arms defiantly. "Well, sir, I've been standing here for the last ten minutes trying to explain the schedule, which is more important than your coffee. But sometimes it's too cold, sometimes too hot, sometimes not so sweet, and sometimes too sweet," she shot back, matching his attitude.
Jungkook's expression hardened further, surprised by her boldness.
"This is a professional environment. I expect focus," he said, trying to maintain his authoritative demeanor, though a hint of amusement flickered in his eyes.
"And I'm trying to give you that focus," Kenzie replied, her tone firm but light. "But if you keep nitpicking about coffee, I need to give you an actual answer for that."
Irritated by her bold and fierce comebacks, Jungkook slammed his hands on the table, creating a loud sound that echoed in the office. Kenzie gulped as she watched him dangerously walk toward her.
She instinctively began to back away, her back hitting the door of his office. For the first time, she found herself locked in intense eye contact with him, her heart racing.
Jungkook leaned closer, placing his hand against the door, effectively trapping her. At this proximity, she could smell his strong cologne mingled with the fresh scent of mint from his vape. It was intoxicating and disarming.
He deeply looked into her liquid gold-like eyes, a smirk playing on his lips. "What happened to that bold attitude, Ms. Zade?" he scoffed, noticing the shift in her confidence.
Kenzie felt her pulse quicken, her boss was close too close to her. "I—uh..." she stammered, caught off guard by his intensity.
"Looks like you're not so fearless up close, dimples," he said, his voice low and perilous, yet there was an underlying hotness that made her heart skip a beat.
Dimples?
Like seriously?
She swallowed hard, trying to regain her composure. "I'm still here, aren't I?" she replied, attempting to sound defiant despite the fluttering in her stomach.
