-Chapter Forty Six-
Some truths burn worse than fire.

Kenzie stirred, her back pressed against Jungkook's chest. His arm was snug around her waist, his lips ghosting over her shoulder.

"Babe," his voice was low, still thick from sleep. "It's time to get ready."

Kenzie sighed, prying his hand off her stomach. "Then get ready," she muttered, pulling the sheets higher. But Jungkook only smirked, sliding his palm back over her skin.

"But right at the moment I am ready for something else, my burning ember caramel," he whispered against her ear, tugging at the strap of her lingerie with his teeth.

Her jaw clenched. Right now, those sweet names meant nothing to her. She couldn't shake off last night's conversation with him. She snapped the strap back up, shooting him a glare.

"Jungkook, you'll be late."

He laughed at her cold tone, ignoring it. He loved that Kenzie always played hard to get, which excited him more. Everything about his wife was enticing and thrilling, keeping him on edge.

"Late for what? To sit in that boring office?" His lips trailed down her neck, hot, wet, and slow.

Kenzie stayed still, refusing to react, her face blank. "You're annoying," she said flatly.

"Annoying?" Jungkook raised a brow, his grin mischievous.

"You mean irresistible."

He caught her wrist when she tried to push him off and pinned it above her head, leaning over her with that infuriating smile.

"Don't," she warned, her voice sharper this time.

But Jungkook only chuckled, oblivious to the storm brewing in her chest. "Why not? You think I will go to work without doing it?" His hand slipped down her waist, tugging at the delicate lace.

Kenzie clenched her teeth, forcing her face to stay unreadable. "Yes. Now, get your pig weight off me."

Instead, he scooped her up suddenly, making her gasp as he carried her straight to the bathroom.

"Jungkook!"

"If that's the matter, then we'll shower together," he said matter-of-factly, pushing the door open with his shoulder. He winked down at her, the boyish grin tugging at his lips.

Kenzie's lips pressed into a thin line. She didn't fight him, but she didn't give in either. Her silence was heavy, but Jungkook didn't notice.

He set her down, fingers sliding under the straps of her lingerie and tugging them down her shoulders with slow, deliberate ease.
