-Chapter Ten-
The girl of your dreams.

"Honestly, he's not engaged. Dad has kind of forbidden us from the dating scene as well— in our family, it's either engagement or marriage, that's it," Melody explained.

"So if the carefree Jeon Jungkook is dating someone behind Dad's back, he'd be playing with fire. Breaking family rules isn't allowed, no matter what," she added, her expression serious.

To Kenzie, Jungkook seemed like the ultimate rulebreaker.

"But then again, he hates the word 'marriage.' Seriously, he's like, 'No matter if I'm 23 or 53, I don't want to get married to anyone at all,'" Melody continued.

"That makes sense," Kenzie said, trying to keep her tone casual. "Some people just aren't ready for that kind of commitment," she added, fiddling with her fingers to mask her growing nerves.

"Exactly! But who knows? Maybe one day he'll change his mind," Melody chimed in, giving Kenzie an encouraging smile as she eyed her closely.

Suddenly, Kenzie felt a rush of warmth, her cheeks turning red.

Melody was watching Kenzie and couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, she had a thing for Jungkook. It looked like she was totally into her brother. At least, that's how it seemed to Melody.

"But Kenzie, what's with the question?" Marcella jumped in, raising an eyebrow like she was curious.

"I mean, it's just for work," Kenzie stuttered, a little embarrassed. "I just wanna get to know him better."

"Get to know him better?" Melody echoed, a playful glint in her eyes.

Kenzie's eyes widened. "I meant to say get to know him better—like a boss," she stammered, gulping. "I'm his personal assistant... Of course, I need to know everything about him, right, Marcella?" she added, looking for support.

"Oh wow, Kenzie, you just said my name right!" Marcella chimed in, clearly enjoying the moment.

"Okay now you both are teaming up against me," Kenzie cried out with a done look.

"Oh, when did I say something?" Melody asked with a smirk, leaning back on the couch.

Kenzie shook her head, flustered. "No, no! I mean, I just wanted to know if he's married or not—that's it, nothing special," she whispered, biting her bottom lip as she felt heat rise to her cheeks.

Melody raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Sure, Kenzie. Whatever you say," she teased, her playful smirk widening.

Kenzie felt her heart race, a mix of embarrassment and something else she couldn't quite place. "I swear it's just professional curiosity!" she insisted, although she knew it sounded weak.
