-Chapter Thirty Seven- If you won't join me, why not join you?
Jungkook lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling, an ache filled his chest, a longing that gnawed at him relentlessly.
It had been a whole month since Kenzie had last been in this room.
His heart whispered for him to cuddle with his wife, yet the reality was that Kenzie wasn't there beside him.
Several nights had passed without the warmth of her body next to his, without the comfort of her soft breathing lulling him to sleep. Jungkook had never considered himself a cuddler, in fact, he often found it a nuisance.
But now, the absence of his Caramel felt like a gaping hole in his life. He missed the way she would curl into him, her head resting against his chest, her hair cascading like silk over his skin.
In a strange, almost desperate ritual, Jungkook had taken to hugging her pillow each night, closing his eyes tightly as he inhaled her scent, the lingering notes of juniper berries, lavender, and something uniquely Kenzie.
Mornings were no better.
His mother's incessant questions about Kenzie had been suffocating, each inquiry digging into him like a thorn.
"Is everything okay between you two?" she had asked at breakfast, her eyes searching his for answers he didn't have.
"When will Kenzie be back? Did you have some kind of fight?"
He would smile tightly, offering vague responses while feeling the heat rise in his cheeks.
Jungkook would glance at the space beside him, where Kenzie's presence had once been a constant comfort.
The absence he felt was like a raw and infected wound, he missed her angelic laughter, her bold jabs, and the way she challenged him, pushing him to be equally obsessed with her.
The last time he went to check on Kenzie with flowers and gifts he got to know from her mother and Finn that she was gone to California to meet Scott's wife.
It was weird and so unusual and when he tried asking her about that she simply ignored him like she has been since their phone incident.
And while he was dying to visit her apartment and bring her back home, he was busy with his court issues.

"Your wife is still not back," Mr. Jeon's harsh words cut through the air, causing Jungkook to exhale sharply.
Another day, another breakfast without Kenzie, and once again, the same relentless questions resurfaced. Jungkook felt like a criminal under his father's dark and displeased gaze.
