Jungkook's eyes narrowed, his mind reeling with the shocking revelation. He had thought Y/n was the sister of his fiancée, but the truth was far more sinister. Y/n was the wife of his 70-year-old father-in-law.
He felt like a fool, blinded by his own ignorance. He had underestimated the ruthlessness of the wealthy elite.
"You look lost?" Namjoon asked, breaking the silence. Namjoon is his fiance’s sister. Jungkook is still confused about the whole family tree, Namjoon and Jungkook fiance Sooyoung both look around Y/n’s age so they can't be her real children.
Jungkook shook his head, apologizing as he continued eating.
Across from him, Y/n didn't look up, her elegant fingers moving delicately as she ate. Her gentle demeanor belied the turmoil brewing inside.
Suddenly, Soo-young, spoke up, "Mom, the outfit I selected,"
Y/n's voice was soft, "Everything is ready, dear."
Jungkook's gaze snapped to Y/n, his eyes locking onto hers. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension palpable.
Soo-young continued, oblivious to the undercurrents. "Great, Mom. I'll talk to Father about the seating arrangements."
After the meal, Jungkook sat with others. His family was there too. He hates arranged marriages but that's all that happens in his family. They marry because of business.
He wanted to take a break so he went out to take a smoke break but then he saw Y/n, sitting peacefully in the garden.
He never hears her talk unless someone asks him something. Jungkook has seen gold diggers who are with old men for money and luxury but She gives a completely opposite vibe.
“Hi, it's peaceful here, “ Jungkook said in a low voice. She didn't reply, he stared at her face.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" He asked. Y/n nodded, her eyes guarded.
"How old are you?" Jungkook asked, curiosity getting the better of him.
"Thirty-five," Y/n replied, her voice even.
Jungkook's eyes widened. "You're just five years older than me."
Y/n's expression remained neutral.
"I've noticed how sweet you are to Soo-young," Jungkook said. "You treat her like your own child."
Y/n's eyes flashed with a hint of sadness. "Because She is my daughter."
Jungkook's brow furrowed. "That's not possible. Soo-young is 20, and you are 35."
Y/n's voice was matter-of-fact. "Do the math, Jungkook."
Jungkook's mind reeled as he calculated the years. This changed everything.
"You had her at 15? But why...?" Jungkook trailed off, confusion etched on his face. "Why did you marry him? He's...old enough to be your grandfather."
Y/n's shoulders sagged, a hint of resignation in her voice. "It was an arranged marriage. Age differences exist, Jungkook. Whether it's 10 years or 35 years, it's all just a number."
