Minghao stared at his laptop screen, the glowing words blurring together. It had been hours since he had started his work, and the pressure from his looming deadlines felt heavier with every passing minute. His desk was strewn with files, notes, and half-empty coffee mugs. The dim light from his desk lamp created a pool of illumination amidst the surrounding darkness of his room.
A sudden sharp pain in his nose made him flinch. He reached up, feeling a trickle of warmth on his upper lip. His heart sank as he realized he was having a nosebleed.
"Ugh, not again." he whispered. He hadn't been sleeping well, and the exhaustion was clearly taking its toll.
Just then, there was a soft knock on his door, followed by Jun's voice. "Hey, Minghao, baby you up?"
Minghao quickly grabbed a tissue and dabbed at his nose, trying to hide the blood. "Yeah, come in."
Jun pushed open the door and walked in, his expression shifting from curiosity to concern as he took in the sight of Minghao hunched over his desk, a worried frown etched on his face.
"Are you okay? It looks like you've been working non-stop," Jun said, gently placing a hand on Minghao's shoulder.
Minghao forced a small smile. "I'm fine. Just... a little too much to handle right now."
Jun noticed the bloodied tissue in Minghao's hand and his concern deepened. "You're having a nosebleed. That's not a good sign."
"It's nothing," Minghao said, trying to sound casual. "I'm probably just a bit stressed."
Jun wasn't buying it. He stepped closer, his eyes scanning the cluttered desk. "You need a break. You've got way too much on your plate. You've been pushing yourself too hard."
Minghao sighed. "I know. I've got this project due tomorrow, the presentation, and then there's some documents due next week. It's all piling up."
Jun gently guided Minghao away from his desk and pushed the chair back. "Come on baby, let me help you. Let's get you cleaned up first."
He took Minghao's hand and led him to the small bathroom attached to the room. Minghao sat on the edge of the bathtub while Jun rummaged through the medicine cabinet for first-aid supplies. Jun was careful and gentle as he helped Minghao clean up.
"How long have you been working without a break?" Jun asked, trying to keep the conversation light.
"Um, probably a good twelve hours," Minghao admitted, looking sheepish. "I didn't realize I'd been at it that long."
Jun's eyes widened. "Twelve hours? Minghao, that's insane. You need to take care of yourself."
Minghao shrugged, not meeting Jun's gaze. "It's just that... I want to do well. I don't want to fall behind."
Jun finished applying some ointment and handed Minghao a fresh tissue. "I get that, but pushing yourself to the brink isn't going to help. You need to rest."
Minghao took the tissue gratefully. "Thanks, Jun."
Jun sat beside Minghao, wrapping an arm around him. "You've been working so hard. It's okay to take a break. You've got me here to help you out."
Minghao looked at Jun, his eyes softening. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
Jun smiled. "Well, you don't have to find out. I'm not going anywhere."
They spent a few quiet moments together. Jun's presence was calming, and Minghao could feel some of the tension melting away.
"So," Jun said after a while, breaking the silence, "why don't we order some food and then work on your projects together? I can help you with the documents and presentation."
