"Woah," I pant heavily, laying my head back in the soft bed, Loki doing the same. "I've never done that before."

"Eheh," Loki chuckles breathlessly, his bare chest heaving beside me, "Did you like it?"

"It was weird," I reply, "But a good weird. Are you sure I did it right?"

"Yes," Loki answers, staring up at the ceiling, "You did well for a first timer. Very tight."

I smile, though I don't think he can see me in the darkness. I freeze when a daunting thought crosses my mind. "Heimdall wasn't watching, was he?" I ask cautiously.

Loki laughs, still catching his breath. "No. I made sure of that."

"How?"

"I was performing an act of love."

"So many plot holes in this so-called curse," I sigh, wriggling under the covers. Not wearing anything as a twoleg is cold. My eyebrows raise in excitement. "Wait, so does this mean you got your powers back!?"
Oh, this means he loves me!

"No," he answers again. My excitement dies down. "I would know if I had." Loki pulls the dark green covers over himself as well.

The room goes silent.

Oh, gods, I'm such an idiot! Why did I ever think he'd feel the same way!?

What we did must have been just for fun in his eyes. I mean, it's probably been a while since he got laid. I'm sure he just wants to be friends, still. With benefits.

I heave another sigh. I shouldn't have kept my hopes up. I should have known. And why did I ever think ...? He's way, way, way out of my league, anyway. A prince in Asgard.

Ugh, get over yourself, Rosie! You'll never love him. You can't.
By tomorrow, I'll be a pony again, in Equestria, and then we'll have no chance anyway.

"So what now?" I murmur. I feel Loki's fingers intertwine with mine. I love how his skin always has this cooling sensation. It's not freezing, but cool enough to recognise as cold. "Zoe's probably waiting for us," I continue, "I promised her we'd be back soon-"

"Rose..." Loki says blankly, "What if... instead of going back... you stay here? With me, in Asgard?"

Damn.
I wish I could. "You know I can't do that," I reply with sad eyes.

"Why not? It's not like you've got much waiting for you back home."

"Just my best friend in the whole universe," I snap, letting go of his hand.

"You could make new friends here," Loki argues, "I know you're not happy there-"

"I'm plenty happy there!" I sit up. Just who does he think he is!?

"Rose- look, I'm sorry," Loki speaks in a softer tone, trying to calm me down, "I just believe you'd be happier here. Think about it, darling," he sits up as well, the sheets falling into a heap around his waist, his pale chest visible in the darkness. "This is a new life. A new time. Don't you see? Most would never receive such an opportunity, and grasp it if ever offered. And you wish to turn it down? To go back to where you were before? Where people have the damned nerve to treat you without the slightest respects?"
