A few days later, I'm sitting on my soft bed, blowing my fringe out of my face. It goes upwards when I blow, but lands on my face and I stop.
It's my birthday today, and it seems like no one except Luna has remembered, but I don't mind. Luna gave me a birthday cupcake, but it smells funny and I'm pretty sure it's laced with something. Suddenly, I hear I knock on my door and leap up. "Come in!" I shout as I stumble around.
The door creeks open and I fall on my face. "Wow, Rosie, nice greeting," smiles a familiar voice.
"Zoe!" I cry, jumping up and charging into her with a hug. The lavender unicorn half expects me and tries to dodge, but gives up. I give her an extremely tight hug.
"Rosie... choking... not hugging..." She breathes, making gagging noises.
"Oh, right," I realise, throwing her on the ground and flapping my wings so I levitate.
Zoe groans and rubs the back of her head. "You didn't have to throw me," she complains, propping herself up with an arm.
"Sorry," I smile, grabbing her from her shoulders and bringing her up with me. I fly us over to my bed and dump her down, then sit next her. "So... what's up?"
"Well, first of all, happy birthday!" She exclaims, raising her hooves in the air, "And second, I heard there's a Wonderbolt's race this evening, and I know how badly you wanna join them," Zoe says, nudging me.
"Yeah, except..." I sigh, buzzing my small wings. Sure, they can help me levitate, but they can't get me very high or very fast very well.
"Yes, that. Don't worry, you just need to keep practising. So anyway, there's a race in Cloudsdale tonight, my present to you... wanna go?" She asks, leaning forward.
"Hell yeah!" I exclaim, "Have you got tickets?"
Zoe sucks in a breath. "Yeah... about that..."
"Maybe Princess Celestia is going, too? If we went with her, we'd get in the VIP!" I suggest.
"Wanna go ask?" Zoe says ecstatically.
"Let's go!" I cry, grabbing her hooves and flying off.
We fly up to the doors of the throne room, where two guards, one white unicorn and a grey pegasus, stop us. "Who goes there?" Barks the grey pegasus guard.
"Screw you," I reply nonchalantly and throw Zoe at the door.
She smashes through it and leaves a Zoe shaped hole and I dash through it. Inside the throne room, Celestia's eyes are wide in shock, cake crumbs fall from her mouth as she's levitating some half eaten chocolate cake. Zoe's laying on the ground, face down on the red carpet leading to the throne. "Rosie Burrito Chuckito Assface!" She shouts.
"AAAAAH!" I scream, lunging at the princess, but Zoe quickly jumps up and holds me in mid air with her light green magic.
She pulls me to her side and says quietly between clenched teeth, "Rosie. Try to think, okay? If you have a go at Celestia, we'll never get to go."
My face softens and I breathe out a sigh. She's right. She takes my body language as a sign and lets go. My hooves click on the flooring as they land. Celestia wipes the crumbs from her face and straightens up. "Well, my morning escalated quickly," she sighs, "What is it, Rosie?"
Zoe and I do a quick kneel before we jump up again. "Zoe and I were wondering if you were going to the Wonderbolts race tonight?" I ask innocently.
"This evening? I was planning on spending some time with my sister, Luna," Celestia replies, obviously doubted.
"Oh, please please please!" Zoe and I beg in unison.
