"I said let's turn Loki into a pony. Jeez, Zoe, can't you hear me properly?"
"No, not well," Zoe replies shamefully.
"Do you know any spells that could turn him into one?" I inquire.
"Um..." She mutters, looking away as we stop outside the doors to Loki's room.
"Now what?" I sigh. "Hey! I know! Follow me." With that, I grab Zoe by the tail and dash off to the library. I swing her at the doors, leaving a Zoe-shaped hole in them and fly straight through it. Zoe face plants on the ground, then comes up, rubbing her head, looking around.
"What are we doing here?" She asks. I roll my eyes and beckon for her to follow me, my hooves making echoing clops in the quiet room.
We pass the librarian, who glares at us like if we make a noise she'll kill us.
Zoe and I trot up and down the shelf isles. I crane my neck to see if I can find her, then suddenly, I spot her. "Moona!" I call. She sits on a cushion with her nose in a book, which she's levitating with her magic. Moona looks up at me, her face suddenly falling as if expecting someone else."Hi, Moona!" I exclaim, waving frantically, making my hoof a blur.
"Oh. Rosa, is it? Hi," she mutters blankly.
"Rosie," I correct, "And this is Zoe."
"Hey," Zoe smiles weakly.
"So, Moona... do you know how to turn homosapiens into ponies?" I ask, cocking my head to the side.
Moona blinks. "Uh... what?"
"How does one go about turning non-ponies into ponies?" Zoe says, stepping forward.
"Why would you want to do that?" Moona questions, raising an eyebrow.
"Zoe here, accidentally turned our friend... uh... Joe into... a... kangaroo. We need to turn him back," I lie.
Moona's eyes widen. "Well, that seems urgent. Why haven't you told the princess?"
"Uh..." Zoe looks at me.
"I'm sort of on thin ice as it is," I fluster, scuffing a hoof on the ground awkwardly.
Moona nods, putting her mouth into an 'O' shape.
"Seems legit. I think I can help you," she says, standing up, eyes moving over the shelves of books, "I remember reading a spell here that might just work... aha!" She pulls a navy blue book from a shelf and flicks through it.Zoe reads the title. "Black magic? On Nightmare Night?" She turns to me, "I dunno..."
I shrug. "What's the worst that could happen?"
Moona finds the page and passes it to Zoe via magic. She takes the book hesitantly. "You sure?" She asks me after we thank Moona and turn, exiting the library.
"C'mon, it'll be cool," I say, trying to reassure myself more than anything. I trot forward to Loki's room, standing just outside the doors. I look around for Zoe, who is still far down the hallway so I can't open the doors by throwing her at them. I kick them open instead. "Yo, Loki!" I screech, making him jolt in his seat.
"And I thought you'd never come back," Loki says longingly and sarcastically.
"Shut up," I snap, opening the cell doors and pushing a hesitant Zoe inside. I come inside with her and she closes the cell doors with her magic, shaking in her horseshoes. Why is she so afraid of him? Oh, right, he's a homicidal prisoner from another world. Still. I grab the book from Zoe, opening to the right page from memory and shoving it in her face. "Loki, we know what you can go as for Nightmare Night."
