TW talk about infidelity.
Mia sat next to Charlotte in the doctor's office, holding her hand as they waited for the results of Charlotte's check-up. The room was quiet except for the soft hum of medical equipment and the occasional rustle of paperwork from the nurse behind the desk. Charlotte stared at the floor, her mind racing. She felt Mia gently squeeze her hand, reminding her that she wasn't alone.
After what felt like an eternity, the doctor finally came in, carrying the results of Charlotte's tests. He sat down and gave them a reassuring smile, though his expression soon became more serious as he explained the findings.
"Charlotte, the tear in your uterine wall has healed, which is great news. However," the doctor paused, glancing at both women before continuing, "there's some scarring where the tear was, and unfortunately, it means your uterine lining isn't as strong as it should be."
Charlotte's heart sank, her grip on Mia's hand tightening. "What does that mean exactly?" she asked, her voice shaky.
The doctor leaned forward, speaking gently but honestly. "It means that while it's possible for you to get pregnant, you may face more challenges. The scarring can make it difficult for an embryo to implant and for the pregnancy to be sustained in the early stages. It doesn't mean it's impossible, but it could be harder for you."
Mia looked over at Charlotte, her heart breaking as she saw the worry in her fiancée's eyes. "Is there anything we can do to increase the chances?" Mia asked, her voice filled with concern.
The doctor nodded. "There are options, such as fertility treatments or IVF, but I want to emphasize that each case is different. If you decide to try again in the future, we'll work closely to monitor the pregnancy and make sure everything is as safe as possible."
Charlotte stayed silent for a moment, processing everything. She had already lost one baby, and now hearing that her body might struggle even more to carry a pregnancy felt like another blow. Mia could feel her tension and leaned closer, pressing a soft kiss to the side of her head.
"Thank you, doctor," Charlotte finally said, her voice quiet but steady. The doctor gave them a supportive nod before leaving them to talk.
Mia turned toward Charlotte, her voice soft and comforting. "We'll figure this out together, okay? No matter what happens, we have each other. You don't have to go through this alone."
Charlotte looked up at Mia, tears welling in her eyes. "What if I can't give you a baby? What if my body can't do this?" she whispered, her voice breaking with fear and sadness.
Mia shook her head, her hands cupping Charlotte's face. "I don't care about that, Char. What matters is you, us, and the life we're building together. We'll explore every option, but I want you to know that I love you more than anything. We'll make our family in whatever way works for us."
Charlotte let out a shaky breath, feeling Mia's words wrap around her like a warm blanket. "I love you so much, Mia," she said, her tears finally falling as Mia pulled her into a tight embrace.
"We'll get through this," Mia whispered, her voice full of determination. "One step at a time, together."
Later that evening, Mia and Charlotte sat on the couch, the TV quietly playing in the background, though neither of them paid attention to it. Charlotte stared blankly ahead, lost in her thoughts, still processing everything the doctor had said earlier. Her fingers absentmindedly traced patterns on Mia's leg, but her mind seemed far away.
Mia glanced at her fiancée, her heart aching as she saw the distant look in Charlotte's eyes. She knew that Charlotte was struggling, holding onto fears and doubts that she wasn't sharing aloud. Without saying a word, Mia stood up, walking over to her phone on the kitchen counter. She scrolled through her playlist, searching for the right song—something that might help lift the heavy silence hanging between them.
