Lisa's gaze towards her had gotten a lot of warmth. He slowly raised his hand and rubbed a little of her hair that had stuck to her face from the rain, which was wet and clinging to her skin. He gently stroked her face, "A year has passed. Were you happy?"
Jennie's tears fell, "Leo and Lily have made me very happy, but I can't be idle. Whenever I'm idle, I want to go crazy. I can't eat and can't sleep well."
Lisa's fingers traced the outline of her cheek, and he said in a low voice, "I thought a hedgehog wouldn't feel anything after stabbing someone, but it turns out you can feel the pain yourself."
Jennie's nose twitched as she stared at him. "Didn't you say that you would remove all the thorns for me? Without this, how can I protect myself? Lisa, you have long pampered this stray dog as a spoiled little dog. Are you willing to leave her just because she bites you?"
Lisa laughed and coughed. Jennie quickly patted his back lightly. Seeing the blood come out of his mouth, her heart became ached. "No, I have to think of a way. I can't wait anymore!"
Lisa looked up at her. He wanted to stop Jennie, but she had already turned around and walked a few meters away, looking in the direction she was falling, hoping she would spot the rescue team. However, it rained so hard that she could hardly open her eyes. "Is there anyone--"
"Jennie, cough!" Lisa frowned and held out his hand towards her. He couldn't get up, only could look at her helplessly, "Don't shout, the rain is too heavy, and the thunder is too loud. No one can hear your screams. If you want to call someone, you have to wait until the rain stops."
"No! There would always be someone with keen ears. We are only forty meters away from the top! How can they not hear it? You must be saved immediately!" Jennie ignored the heartache in Lisa's eyes. She cupped her hand in her mouth and asked, "Is there anyone above? President Manoban is down here!"
"Someone come!"
"Is there anyone up there?!"
"Lisa and I are down here! Someone help him!"
Jennie stayed up all night in a tent last night. She had been busy helping the rescue team all day and didn't eat much. She didn't have much strength left on her, but she still shouted as loud as she could.
"Jennie!" Lisa could not bear to watch any longer. He held on to the wall to get up, but just as he was about to stand up, he nearly fell because of the severe injury to his legs.
Jennie ran back to support him and said hoarsely, "Lisa, what are you doing?"
"Stop screaming!" Lisa sat up again little by little with her support and looked down at his injured legs. He didn't say anything. He just held her hand and gently urged her, "Look at your voice, it's already hoarse. Once the rain stops and if someone really passes this area, you no longer have the strength to shout. Listen to me, be good, hmm?"
"But you ..." Jennie didn't know how serious his injuries were, so she said in a hoarse voice, "Who would have thought that you would actually fall here? Moreover, most people are focusing on rescuing earthquake survivors, so they don't have time to pay attention to what's going on down here. Lisa, you can't keep staying here."
"Be obedient, and save your strength. You know that you're the only one who can call for help right now. If you fail, then we won't have much hope." Lisa patted her hand. His face was pale and weak, but his voice was still calm.
Jennie looked at the blood in the corner of his mouth and nodded. She then wiped the blood for him. "Alright then. I'll wait for the rain to stop and then I'll shout again."
In fact, Lisa was right. With the rain falling so heavily and the lightning striking, even normal pedestrians walking on this mountain road might not be able to hear the sounds coming from below, not to mention the rescue teams who walked or flew in the air by helicopter.
Everyone's attention was focused on the collapsed houses, and not many people would pay attention to this, so she needed to save her strength and wait for the best opportunity to shout.
Jennie sat silently next to Lisa, saving her strength. After thinking for a while, she took out half a bottle of mineral water from the bag and two packets of biscuits, "Lis, I have brought some packets of biscuits with me. I initially wanted to eat, but I was so busy with disaster relief that I didn't have time to eat. Luckily, I brought some with me. You didn't eat anything yesterday, did you?"
"Eat by yourself, I'm fine." Lisa turned his head away slightly and pushed her hand.
"I'm not hungry! I ate quite a lot last night, and I ate a lot today as well!" Jennie said.
She opened the packet and brought the biscuits to Lisa's mouth, "Lis, eat a little first. There are still two packets here. We will split them and eat two pieces at a time. At least we can still last a few hours. Hurry up, open your mouth."
Lisa frowned, as if he didn't want to eat it. Jennie looked at him with her bloodshot eyes and suddenly remembered that he had tried everything he could to make her eat when she was trying to force him to divorce her.
This kind of anxious feeling was even more painful than being stabbed by a knife. She looked at him with pain and said, "Lis, please eat a little, okay?"
Seeing her red and swollen eyes that filled with anticipation, Lisa closed his eyes and sighed. Finally, he opened his mouth and ate it. Jennie smiled and quickly handed over a bottle of water. "This is the mineral water I drank yesterday. It's better than rainwater. Come, drink some."
Jennie did not dare to sleep, but she had already reached an extreme state of exhaustion. She leaned against the side of the mountain wall and turned around to look at Lisa, only to find that he was holding on to something, His eyes were slightly opened and whenever he closed his eyes, she would call out to him.
Lisa could not fall asleep in this state. The two of them would stay awake together. Even though it was cold and even though Jennie didn't know how long they had to wait, but at least Lisa was beside her. All her despair and her fear dissipated a little by a little because of his warmth.
Jennie had no idea how much power was left in the flashlight. The rain got lighter, and because of the sound of the rain and thunder, she couldn't hear the footsteps above her. Only when she saw the headlights, did she notice that there was a car passing the area.
Jennie quickly turned on her flashlight, hoping someone would notice them.
However, no one noticed what was happening below. Most of the trees here were covered by the thick foliage and most of the light was blocked. Even those who were driving by wouldn't notice what was happening below, let alone those who walk.
Jennie fell asleep while leaning on Lisa's shoulder. When she woke up from her sleep, she immediately looked at Lisa. She turned on the flashlight, but there was no power.
Anxious, she picked up Lisa's phone and turned on the flashlight before shone it to his face. She was shocked to see Lisa's cold body and closed eyes.
"Lisa." Jennie used her remaining strength to turn around and help him. However, the moment she moved her body away from him, his body started to fall down.
