Yoongi stumbled back to the mansion later that night, his footsteps heavy and uneven as he fumbled with the door. His head pounded from the alcohol, but the ache in his chest was far worse. The words Jimin had said played on a loop in his mind. Jack is more handsome… I never loved you…
As Yoongi entered the darkened hallway, he paused, glancing toward the shared living room. The place that once felt like home now felt cold and hollow. His fingers brushed against the wall as he made his way toward his room, but halfway there, he stopped. The door to Jimin’s room was slightly ajar.
Yoongi’s heart clenched painfully, and without thinking, he stepped inside. Jimin was sitting on the bed, his back facing the door, staring down at his hands. The silence between them felt suffocating, thick with the weight of all the unspoken things that lingered in the air.
Jimin’s own heart ached, the cold words he had spoken earlier still ringing in his ears. He had never wanted to hurt Yoongi like this. The memory of Yoongi’s broken expression haunted him, his tears, the desperation in his voice as he begged. Jimin had forced himself to remain cold, to push Yoongi away, but now, in the solitude of his room, his own tears spilled down his cheeks.
He heard Yoongi’s unsteady footsteps, heard him enter the room, but he couldn’t bring himself to turn around. He couldn’t face him again, not like this.
Yoongi’s voice was soft, broken. "Why, Jimin?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper. "Why did you do it?"
Jimin squeezed his eyes shut, clenching his fists. "I told you," he said, his voice shaking despite the coldness he tried to maintain. "Jack is… he’s better."
"You’re lying," Yoongi said, his voice louder this time, his emotions raw. He moved closer, his hands trembling as he stood just behind Jimin. "I know you, Jimin. I know you better than anyone. You don’t care about looks. This… this isn’t you."
Jimin turned his head slightly, the weight of Yoongi’s words pressing down on him. He couldn’t respond, couldn’t let his true feelings show. He had to stay strong, even if it was tearing him apart.
"You don’t love him, do you?" Yoongi asked, his voice breaking again. "Tell me the truth. You love me, don’t you?"
Jimin’s chest tightened painfully, the tears he had been holding back threatening to spill again. But he forced himself to stay cold, to stay distant. He had to protect Yoongi, no matter the cost.
"I don’t love you, Yoongi," Jimin whispered, his voice so quiet it was almost lost in the room. "I never did."
Yoongi flinched as if he had been struck. He stumbled back, his eyes wide with disbelief, pain etched into every feature of his face. He couldn’t understand how Jimin, the man who had held him close, kissed him tenderly, whispered words of love in the darkness, could say such a thing.
"Stop lying to me!" Yoongi shouted, his frustration and agony finally boiling over. "Stop lying to yourself!" His voice cracked, the tears he had tried to keep at bay finally spilling over as he stood there, broken and lost.
Jimin clenched his fists even tighter, his nails digging into his palms. His whole body trembled, but he refused to look at Yoongi. If he did, he knew he would fall apart completely.
"You need to let me go," Jimin said, his voice hard, despite the quiver underneath. "This is over."
Yoongi shook his head, tears streaming down his face as he knelt down in front of Jimin, grabbing his hands desperately. "No… Please, Jimin… Don’t do this," he begged, his voice cracking with emotion. "We can fix this. We can fight them together. Just don’t… don’t leave me."
Jimin’s resolve was slipping, and he knew it. The sight of Yoongi on his knees, pleading with him, was too much. His heart felt like it was being ripped apart. He wanted to pull Yoongi close, to tell him that he loved him more than anything in the world. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t put Yoongi in danger.
With a shaky breath, Jimin stood, pulling his hands free from Yoongi’s grip. He looked down at Yoongi, his own tears falling silently, but he forced himself to speak the words he knew would shatter them both.
"It’s too late, Yoongi. I’ve already chosen."
Yoongi’s eyes widened in horror, his hands trembling as they reached out for Jimin again. "No… No, please," he whispered, his voice broken. "Please, don’t say that…"
Jimin took a step back, his face pale, his chest heaving with the effort to keep it together. "It’s over, Yoongi," he whispered, turning his back to him. "You need to move on."
Yoongi collapsed to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably as the weight of Jimin’s words hit him like a ton of bricks. He had never felt pain like this, never felt such overwhelming heartbreak. His whole world was crumbling, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Jimin stood there, staring at the wall, his own sobs silent and suffocating. He had just torn apart the love of his life, and now, the only thing he felt was emptiness.

In the days that followed, the tension between them was unbearable. Jimin retreated into himself, barely speaking, while Yoongi drowned his sorrows in alcohol, unable to process the pain of losing Jimin. Taehyung and Jungkook, caught in the middle, tried to bring some semblance of peace to the house, but the air was thick with unspoken hurt and unresolved emotions.
Jungkook, devastated by his brother’s coldness and hurtful words, avoided Jimin, unable to understand why he would do something so heartless. Taehyung stayed close to Yoongi, trying to comfort him, but nothing seemed to help.
Every night, Yoongi would stare at the door to Jimin’s room, hoping that somehow, Jimin would come back to him, that he would take back the cruel words and tell him that he still loved him. But each night, the door stayed closed, and Yoongi’s hope faded a little more.
As for Jimin, every night he cried himself to sleep, his heart aching with the weight of the decision he had made. He wanted nothing more than to run to Yoongi, to hold him close and tell him the truth—that he loved him, that he always had—but he couldn’t. Not with the threat of his family looming over them.
And so, they both suffered in silence, two hearts broken beyond repair, torn apart by forces outside their control.
