The days passed slowly in the mansion, each one filled with mounting tension for Jimin and Yoongi. Jimin’s parents had made their stance clear, and the looming pressure of an arranged marriage weighed heavily on his shoulders. Despite his love for Yoongi, he found himself increasingly trapped between his feelings and his family's expectations.
One afternoon, Jimin received a call from his parents, summoning him to their home for an important discussion. With a sense of dread, he turned to Yoongi, who was seated at the kitchen table, studying the remnants of their lunch.
“I have to go,” Jimin said, his voice tinged with anxiety. “They want to talk about the marriage.”
“Do you want me to come with you?” Yoongi asked, concern etched on his face.
“No, I think it’s better if it’s just me. They might react differently if they see you there,” Jimin replied, forcing a smile. “I’ll be okay.”
“Just remember, you’re not alone,” Yoongi said, reaching across the table to squeeze Jimin’s hand. “I’m here for you, no matter what.”
As Jimin arrived at his family home, the atmosphere felt heavy, like a storm was about to break. His parents awaited him in the living room, their expressions serious.
“Jimin, sit down,” his father said, gesturing to the couch.
Taking a seat, Jimin felt his heart race. “What’s going on?”
“Your mother and I have been discussing your future,” his father began, his tone firm. “It’s time you think seriously about the life we’ve planned for you.”
Jimin swallowed hard, dread pooling in his stomach. “I know, Dad. About Jack...”
“Yes, Jack,” his mother interjected, her voice filled with warmth. “He’s a successful CEO, and he comes from a reputable family. You’ll be set for life with him.”
“I appreciate your concern, but I don’t want to marry someone I don’t love,” Jimin replied, desperation creeping into his voice. “I care about someone else.”
His father’s expression hardened. “And who is this ‘someone else’? This cousin of yours? You can’t be serious, Jimin. It’s inappropriate.”
Jimin clenched his fists, feeling frustration boil over. “Yoongi is more than just my cousin; he’s the person I love. You can’t expect me to give that up for someone I barely know!”
“Love? What do you know about love?” his father retorted, his voice rising. “You’re young and naive. You have responsibilities, and marrying Jack is what’s best for our family.”
“But what about what’s best for me?” Jimin challenged, his voice trembling with emotion. “I want to be happy!”
“You think marrying some boy will make you happy?” his father snapped. “You’ll have no future, no security. You need to think about the family name!”
Jimin stood up, his heart racing. “I won’t live my life for the family name! I deserve to choose who I want to be with!”
His mother’s eyes filled with tears as she spoke softly, “Jimin, please. We’re doing this for your own good. You need stability and a good life.”
“Stability isn’t worth sacrificing my happiness!” Jimin shouted, feeling a mix of anger and heartbreak. “I can’t just turn off my feelings for Yoongi!”
“Then you’ll be alone,” his father warned, his voice cold. “If you choose him, you’ll have to do it without our support. You’ll be disowned.”
“Is that really what you want?” Jimin asked, his heart breaking at the thought of losing his family.
“We want what’s best for you, Jimin,” his father replied sternly. “This is non-negotiable. You need to make a choice.”
Jimin felt tears prick at his eyes. “How can you ask me to choose between my family and my happiness? This isn’t fair!”
His mother sighed, looking torn but resolute. “We want you to think about this carefully. Marry Jack, and you’ll have a secure future. We’ll be proud of you.”
With that, Jimin felt the walls closing in around him. “You’re asking me to give up everything I feel. I can’t do that!”
Frustrated and overwhelmed, Jimin stormed out of the house, ignoring his parents’ calls. He needed to see Yoongi, to feel his warmth and support.
When he returned to the mansion, Yoongi was waiting for him, his face full of concern. “What happened? You look upset.”
Jimin collapsed onto the couch, burying his face in his hands. “They want me to marry Jack. They say I have to choose between my family and Yoongi.”
“Jimin...” Yoongi said softly, sitting beside him. “I’m so sorry. You shouldn’t have to go through this.”
“It’s not fair,” Jimin replied, his voice muffled. “They don’t understand that love isn’t just about security or status. It’s about how I feel.”
“I know,” Yoongi said, wrapping his arms around Jimin. “And I love you, but I don’t want you to feel trapped. If they can’t accept us, we’ll find a way to be happy together.”
Jimin looked up, tears streaming down his cheeks. “But what if it means losing my family?”
“Family is important, but so is your happiness,” Yoongi said firmly. “We can figure this out together. You don’t have to face this alone.”
As they sat together, Jimin felt a sense of comfort wash over him, but the reality of the situation still loomed large. The choice he faced was heart-wrenching, and as the days went on, the pressure from his parents only grew.
With each argument and confrontation, the tension between Jimin and Yoongi began to rise as well. Small disagreements erupted into larger fights, fueled by the stress of their situation.
One evening, after another heated conversation with his parents, Jimin stormed into their room, frustration boiling over. “How can you not see how much I love him?” he yelled, pacing back and forth. “They don’t understand me!”
Yoongi crossed his arms, his expression tense. “Jimin, I’m here for you, but you need to talk to them, not just fight against them. You can’t expect everything to change overnight.”
“I don’t want to talk! They’re not listening!” Jimin shot back, his heart racing. “Every time I try, they just push back harder!”
“Then what do you want to do?” Yoongi asked, his voice strained. “You can’t keep avoiding this.”
“I don’t know!” Jimin exclaimed, frustration spilling over. “Maybe I should just agree to their stupid marriage with Jack!”
“Is that really what you want?” Yoongi’s voice was low, hurt evident in his tone.
“No! But what choice do I have?” Jimin felt his chest tighten with despair. “I can’t just abandon my family!”
“Then we need to find a way to make them understand,” Yoongi said, stepping closer. “We’ll do this together, I promise.”
As Jimin looked into Yoongi’s eyes, he felt the warmth of their love, but the weight of the world pressed heavily on his heart. The battle between family expectations and personal happiness raged on, and Jimin knew he had to confront it head-on, no matter the outcome.
