The days following the haldi and mehndi were filled with anticipation, as the sangeet and wedding day drew nearer. Everyone was in a mix of excitement and exhaustion, the atmosphere in the mansion a blend of laughter, music, and preparations.
Jungkook and Taehyung spent most of their time together, sneaking moments whenever they could, lost in their little world of love. Meanwhile, Jimin tried to avoid Yoongi's relentless teasing, although the more he resisted, the more Yoongi seemed determined to get a reaction.
One afternoon, Jimin found himself in the living room, sitting cross-legged on the plush couch, going over the sangeet performances they had planned. He was focused, but not for long.
Yoongi walked into the room and plopped down right beside Jimin without invitation.
“Shouldn’t you be, I don’t know, annoying someone else?” Jimin asked, not even looking up from the papers in his hand.
Yoongi leaned back against the couch, putting his hands behind his head, clearly amused. “Why would I do that when you’re right here?”
Jimin sighed. “I’m trying to work on something. You’re a distraction.”
“Good distraction?” Yoongi’s voice was low, playful as always.
Jimin glared at him, though it wasn’t as sharp as before. “No, an annoying one.”
Yoongi chuckled. “You wound me, Jimin.”
“You’ll survive,” Jimin retorted, though he felt a small smile creeping onto his face.
Just then, the door to the living room opened and Jungkook and Taehyung came in, looking ridiculously happy, their hands intertwined. Taehyung’s eyes sparkled as he sat down on the arm of the couch, next to Jungkook, who settled beside him.
“You guys look like you’re planning world domination,” Taehyung teased, his voice light.
Jimin glanced up, shaking his head. “I’m planning the performances for the sangeet, which is basically world domination considering the number of people involved.”
Jungkook grinned. “You always take things so seriously, hyung.”
“Well, one of us has to,” Jimin shot back, though there was no real bite in his words. “I can’t let you and Taehyung look bad on stage.”
Taehyung chuckled. “As long as I’m next to Kook, we’re not looking bad.”
Jungkook blushed slightly, nudging Taehyung’s shoulder with his own. “Stop being cheesy.”
Taehyung just smiled wider, his eyes never leaving Jungkook’s. The love between them was palpable, and it made Jimin’s heart swell with happiness. As much as he teased them for their over-the-top romantic gestures, he couldn’t deny how beautiful their bond was.
Yoongi, watching the interaction, leaned closer to Jimin, his voice barely a whisper. “See? That’s what real chemistry looks like.”
Jimin rolled his eyes, but his cheeks warmed at the proximity of Yoongi’s voice. He shifted uncomfortably, trying to focus on the papers in his lap.
“Anyway,” Jimin said, quickly changing the subject, “I was thinking we could do a group performance to kick off the sangeet. Something energetic.”
Jungkook’s eyes lit up. “Yes! Something fun, like a mix of Bollywood and hip-hop.”
Taehyung grinned, clearly loving the idea. “Oh, and we could do a special duet at the end.”
Jimin raised an eyebrow, already imagining the over-the-top duet that Taehyung and Jungkook would pull off. “As long as it’s not too dramatic,” he warned, though he knew there was no stopping them.
Yoongi, who had been quiet for a while, finally spoke up. “You’re overthinking this, Jimin. Just let them do their thing. It'll be fine.”
Jimin frowned. “I’m not overthinking. I just want everything to be perfect.”
Yoongi leaned closer, his voice soft but teasing. “Perfection is boring. Sometimes, it’s the little imperfections that make things interesting.”
Jimin blinked, thrown off by the unexpected depth in Yoongi’s words. “That’s… oddly insightful.”
Yoongi smirked. “I have my moments.”
Jungkook, sensing the tension between Jimin and Yoongi, glanced at Taehyung and stifled a laugh. “You guys are like two sides of the same coin,” he joked. “Always bickering but secretly you work well together.”
Jimin scoffed. “We do not work well together.”
Yoongi raised an eyebrow, amused. “Really? Because I think we make a great team.”
Jimin opened his mouth to argue, but before he could respond, Taehyung cut in, his voice sing-song. “Jimin and Yoongi, sitting in a tree—”
“Shut up!” Jimin exclaimed, his face turning beet red as Jungkook and Taehyung burst into laughter.
Yoongi just chuckled, clearly enjoying Jimin’s embarrassment. “Don’t worry, Jimin. I won’t tell anyone about your secret crush on me.”
Jimin threw a pillow at him. “You wish!”
As the room erupted into laughter, Jimin couldn’t help but feel a strange warmth. Yoongi’s teasing was relentless, but there was something comforting about it too, even if he’d never admit it.
Later that evening, after all the banter had settled down, Taehyung and Jungkook sneaked off to the garden for another one of their quiet walks. Jimin found himself in the kitchen again, making a late-night snack when Yoongi strolled in, looking as if he had been waiting for this moment.
“You’re like a ghost in this house,” Jimin muttered, not even looking up as Yoongi approached.
Yoongi leaned against the counter, watching him intently. “You can’t avoid me forever, Jimin.”
Jimin sighed, but this time, his voice was softer, less annoyed. “I’m not trying to avoid you. I just… don’t get you.”
Yoongi smirked. “That’s because I’m not like most people.”
Jimin rolled his eyes but smiled a little, turning away to hide it. “You’re impossible.”
“I’ve heard that before,” Yoongi replied, his voice low and teasing as usual. But there was something else there, too—something unspoken hanging in the air between them.
As they stood there in the quiet kitchen, the laughter of their friends fading into the background, Jimin realized that maybe, just maybe, Yoongi wasn’t as impossible as he seemed.
And perhaps, amidst all the teasing, there was a different kind of connection forming—one neither of them could quite put into words.
