As the days passed, the coldness in the mansion only grew. Jimin tried to keep up with his usual routine, but the isolation was unbearable. Every time he saw Taehyung and Jungkook together, or caught a glimpse of Yoongi from a distance, the pain in his chest deepened. He couldn’t escape the reality he had created for himself—one filled with loneliness and regret.
Jimin found himself constantly replaying the moment he had told Yoongi that Jack was more handsome, the moment he had shattered everything. Yoongi’s devastated expression haunted him. He knew the words had cut deep, and Yoongi probably hated him now. And maybe that was better—maybe it was easier for Yoongi to hate him rather than to know the truth about why Jimin had pushed him away.
Yoongi, on the other hand, was spiraling. He had turned to alcohol more often, drinking to numb the pain and the betrayal he felt. The Yoongi who used to smile at Jimin, who used to tease and flirt, was gone. Now, he was someone else entirely—someone broken, angry, and filled with bitterness.
One night, after another long day of ignoring each other, Yoongi returned to the mansion late, the smell of alcohol clinging to him. His footsteps were heavy as he made his way to the living room, where Jimin sat alone, staring blankly at the TV that wasn’t even on.
Yoongi’s voice was slurred as he spoke, "Why, Jimin? Why did you do it?" His words were raw, filled with hurt. "Was I not good enough for you? Was I just… someone to pass the time with until something better came along?"
Jimin didn’t respond at first, his heart pounding in his chest. He had been avoiding this conversation for so long, hoping it would never come to this, but now there was no escape.
Yoongi stumbled toward him, his eyes glossy with unshed tears. "You said Jack was more handsome, but I know that’s not the truth." His voice cracked, and he knelt in front of Jimin, grabbing his shoulders. "Tell me the truth, Jimin. Tell me why you broke up with me."
Jimin looked away, his jaw clenched tightly as he fought back tears. "I told you, Yoongi. It’s over."
Yoongi’s grip on his shoulders tightened. "No, I don’t believe that. I won’t believe that." He pulled Jimin closer, his breath warm against his face. "You loved me. I know you did. You can’t just turn that off."
Jimin’s heart broke all over again at the desperation in Yoongi’s voice. He wanted to tell him everything, to confess the truth about his parents' threats, but he knew that would only put Yoongi in danger.
"You don’t understand," Jimin said, his voice trembling. "You can’t understand."
Yoongi’s eyes filled with confusion and anger. "Then make me understand, Jimin! What is so bad that you had to throw everything away? What is so horrible that you’d rather lie and hurt everyone around you?"
Tears slipped down Jimin’s cheeks, and he shook his head. "I can’t," he whispered.
Yoongi’s shoulders sagged, and he let go of Jimin, stumbling back. He ran a hand through his hair, his frustration evident. "Fine," he muttered, "if you won’t tell me the truth, then I guess there’s nothing left to say."
He turned to leave, but Jimin couldn’t bear it anymore. He couldn’t let Yoongi walk away like this, not when he was the only one who had ever truly seen him.
"Yoongi, wait," Jimin called out, his voice thick with emotion.
Yoongi paused but didn’t turn around.
"I… I’m sorry," Jimin choked out. "I’m sorry for everything."
Yoongi’s back stiffened, and for a moment, it seemed like he might turn around and say something. But instead, he shook his head and continued walking, disappearing down the hall.

In the days that followed, Jimin’s world became even smaller. Taehyung and Jungkook barely spoke to him, and Yoongi didn’t come home most nights. When he did, he was distant, retreating to his room without a word.
Jungkook had stopped trying to talk to Jimin altogether, his anger toward his brother palpable. He couldn’t forgive Jimin for breaking Yoongi’s heart, for betraying him in such a cruel way. Even Taehyung, who usually tried to mediate, had given up.
One evening, after another day of silence, Jimin overheard Taehyung and Jungkook talking in hushed voices. They were in the kitchen, and Jimin stood just outside the door, listening.
"I don’t know how much more of this I can take," Jungkook muttered, his voice thick with frustration. "He’s our family, Tae, but… I don’t recognize him anymore."
"I know," Taehyung replied softly. "But we don’t know the whole story. Maybe there’s more to this than we realize."
Jungkook let out a bitter laugh. "What more could there be? He threw Yoongi away like he didn’t mean anything. I can’t forgive him for that."
Jimin’s heart ached at the sound of his brother’s words. He had always been close to Jungkook, had always protected him, but now it felt like they were worlds apart. The bond they had shared was fractured, and Jimin didn’t know if it could ever be repaired.
---
That night, as Jimin lay in bed, he felt more alone than ever. His family had turned against him, Yoongi wouldn’t look at him, and he had no one to turn to. The weight of his choices pressed down on him, suffocating him.
He buried his face in his pillow, the tears flowing freely now. He wanted to scream, to beg for someone to understand, but he knew that no one could. His parents had trapped him in a corner, and there was no way out.
As Jimin’s sobs filled the room, the coldness of the mansion seemed to close in around him. The place that had once been filled with love and laughter was now nothing more than a prison of his own making.
