As I stepped into the grand hall of the
Fontaine ballroom, my heart raced with a mix of excitement and nerves. The opulent chandeliers hung like stars from the ceiling, casting a warm, golden glow over the elegantly dressed guests. The air was filled with the soft sound of strings, and laughter echoed off the marble walls. I had traveled all the way from Inazuma for this mission, a delicate task that required utmost discretion, but for a moment, I let myself get lost in the beauty of the evening.

I felt out of my element in this stunning gown—an intricate blend of sea blue and shimmering silver fabric that flowed around me like water. The heels I wore added a few inches to my height but also made me acutely aware of how precariously I navigated the polished floor. I took a deep breath, reminding myself of the importance of my mission, but the atmosphere of the ball was intoxicating.

As I turned to admire a particularly beautiful arrangement of flowers, I felt my heel catch on the edge of the carpet. In an instant, I lost my balance, and before I knew it, I was stumbling forward, arms flailing for support. Just as I braced for impact, strong hands caught me, steadying my fall.

"Whoa there," a deep voice said, laced with concern. I looked up to see a strikingly handsome man with silver hair and piercing blue eyes gazing down at me. His features were sharp, yet there was a warmth in his expression that made my heart skip a beat.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his brow slightly furrowed as he assessed my state. But all I could do was stare, momentarily entranced by his striking appearance. The way his hair fell casually over his forehead and the gentle curve of his lips made my stomach flutter.

"Uh..." I stammered, still caught in his gaze. "I think I'm fine." My voice came out softer than I intended, and I felt my cheeks flush. I was completely caught off guard by his presence, and the moment felt surreal.

He chuckled softly, his laughter like a gentle melody. "You sure? It looked like quite the tumble." His concern was genuine, and I couldn't help but admire how effortlessly charming he was.

"I—yes, I'm sure," I finally managed to reply, forcing myself to break eye contact and stand up straight. As his hands slowly released me, I felt an unexpected sense of loss, like the warmth of sunlight fading away. "I'm just... not used to these heels."

He raised an eyebrow, a playful smile creeping onto his face. "Then perhaps you should consider flats for such grand occasions," he suggested with a hint of teasing in his voice. "I'm Wriothesley, by the way."

"Y/n," I introduced myself, my voice steadier now, though my heart still raced. "I'm here on... business duty." I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal to a stranger, especially in such a delicate situation.

"Business, huh?" Wriothesley's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Fontaine is full of surprises, even for those on a mission. Care to share what brought you here?"
