I'm back in my apartment standing on my balcony, the deep midnight black sky overcasting my view of the city. Coming here was once a dream, and now not only has that dream come true, but my dream of being an artist and a performer, someone going on tour and traveling the world whilst also living their passion.
I gaze upon the bracelet that I bought for Annika. As much as I miss her, I can't stop thinking about that beautiful woman I saw, Amber. My gosh, was she gorgeous. Not only did I highly appreciate her admiration of me, but she even invited me to the cafe where she works, which is supposedly a good eatery. I will definitely be going next week; I just have to see her again. She even lives in the same apartment as my uncle! I'll see if he knows her, since I'll be visiting him tomorrow. She seemed really sweet and friendly. I've always been into darker features, she encompasses the beauty of it all; the long flowing swarthy hair, the bronze skin, and her eyes resembling the hue of luscious milk chocolate, and to top it off, a silky red bodycon dress with strappy jet black heels. Whew. Lord have mercy.
Don't get me wrong, I do love Annika, but I've been thinking more and more about our situation, and something about our relationship just isn't the same. We used to have such a strong bond, but lately she's been either too clingy or not even paying much attention to me at all, which I just don't understand. She already made a big deal about me coming to Philly, yet she hasn't even been conversing with me much. I don't wanna breakup with her, I just wanna try to make things right.
The cool night air clears my thoughts, helping me meditate upon the new events and revelations that are beginning to surpass my life. A new apartment, a new career. God is being very generous with me.
After I'm done pondering, I go over to my suitcase to unpack the necessities, taking out some clothes and toiletries. I head over to the bathroom to brush my teeth, then change into some Adidas shorts and a white tank-top, getting ready for bed. Might as well enjoy the summer heat while it lasts.
My feet pull me over to the bed, and I bury myself under the covers whilst laying my head on the smooth pillow, ready to unwind into a night of sweet dreams.
...
The morning sun awakens me, and my eyes gape upon its rays shining through my window. Tired, I drag myself out of bed, yawning and stretching as a result of my body's leftover fatigue. I decided that I want to visit my Uncle Juan today, since I didn't get to talk to him much yesterday. After all, I owe him for picking me up at the airport, and he also promised to show me around Philly a bit.
I decide and have some breakfast; which reminds me, I should go grocery shopping. I walk over to my carry-on bag and find some leftover granola bars I had lying in there, and I find a coffee machine along the countertop of my kitchen. My silhouette drags me over to make some Colombian coffee that had already been there. Huh. I guess living in fancy apartments have their perks. I put the reusable filter in the basket and add 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds into it, and add water.
While the coffee machine formulates my morning cup of joe, I call up my Uncle Juan, my eyes searching for my phone whilst my fingers glide themselves across the screen to reach his name.
"Good morning, Uncle Juan," I vocalize.
"Good morning, popstar!" He responds.
"Can I come over today? Just to catch up on things and to talk," I articulate.
"Of course you can, my man! My apartment number is 104."
"Great! Hey, just a second..." I vocalize.
"Yeah, what's up?"
"Do you by any chance know a woman named Amber? She's tan with wavy long brown hair and brown eyes. She lives in your apartment building" I say.
"Hmm... I think I see her sometimes around the building. I believe she is the one who works at Cafe Amore down the street. That cafe is pretty damn good, if you ask me," he asserts.
"Awesome! Yeah, I just met her last night when I went to meet up with Anthony at the Wells Fargo Center. She recognized me and even asked for an autograph and a photo," I laughingly say.
"Well, ain't that a coincidence?" He amusingly proclaims.
"Mhm. She even invited me over to the cafe since I wanted an eatery recommendation," I respond.
"That's cool. She seems like a nice person. But hey, watch it. You have a girlfriend Mr. Casanova," he asserts.
It may be true that I do have a womanizing past...
"Don't worry Uncle Juan," I respond with a laugh.
"All right. When you wanna come over?"
"Around 1:00, how's that?"
"Sounds good."
...
The Philadelphia breeze dances around me as I walk along the stones of the sidewalk, peering for my destination. I decided not to call a cab since the apartment building is just down the street, and besides, I wanna get a feel for the city. I also made sure to cover up a bit before I left so I don't get swarmed; I have on sunglasses and a hat.
The apartment building name ultimately presses my eyes: Liberty Bell Apartments. I happily walk in and almost reach the goal of going over to the welcome desk, but not before a certain someone's appearance caresses my eyes.
My head turns and I see the beautiful silhouette of Amber's figure, her hair gorgeously down and wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants, looking very cute but casual.
"Hey! Hey, Amber!" I say.
"Oh my gosh, hi Bruno! What brings you here?" She excitedly proclaims.
"I'm just visiting my uncle. I want to talk to him just to catch up and to maybe get some recommendations for Philly hotspots," I say.
"That's awesome! I was just about to go out for grocery shopping."
"Ah, cool. I'll be coming to the cafe next week. My uncle Juan told me that he really likes it as well," I respond with a smile.
"Oh, that's great! Can't wait to see you there. How do you like Philly so far?" She asks.
"It's very nice. I love the view I have in my apartment, and I just can't wait to see the iconic tourist spots." I say.
"Oh, you've gotta see the iconic tourist spots. The Liberty Bell, the Rocky Statue, you name it."
"Yes, yes... I've always loved the Rocky movies growing up," I proclaim, putting my hands in my pockets.
"Me too!!! I mean, growing up in Philly how can you not?" She responds with a laugh. What a beautiful laugh she has.
"Right, right. Well, I'll see you soon. Wait, what days do you work at the cafe?" I ask.
"Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-5, and Fridays from 1-6."
"Awesome. I'll keep that in mind. See you soon!" I proclaim.
"See ya!" She walks away, and I catch a glimpse of her ass. That's a fine ass right there. Damn. Got a better view of it last night though...
Gosh, I'm a pig. Annika! Remember Annika? I mentally say to myself.
My thoughts are interrupted by the welcoming desk agent.
"Hi, what can I help you with?"
"Oh, I'm just here visiting my uncle Juan, room 104."
"All right, thanks. I'll call him and tell him you're coming up."
"Thanks!"
I never pictured myself running into Amber randomly at the hotel today. It seems like there's just something-maybe it's the world, maybe it's our admiration of each other- that is trying to pull us together. I can just feel it.
