September 3rd, 2010

I eat some leftover dinner food for lunch, and after getting off the phone with my sister Dahlia about the upcoming Labor Day get-together and letting out our anger about our stepfather, in addition to proclaiming that we are both excited to see each other again, I feel a lot better now.

My eyes sail over to the clock, and it reads 12:55 PM. I should probably go out to buy some groceries now. Better to get things over with and to not procrastinate, especially when it's something like this. I grab my purse lying on the coffee table, throw on some sneakers and head out the door, my legs dragging my body down the steps and into the lobby; however, when I arrive there, I notice a certain familiar face. His head turns, and I notice a look in his eye indicating that he is excited to see me; my eyes mirroring the identical sentiment.

"Hey! Hey, Amber!" he walks over to greet me, his body language indicating jumpiness and thrill.

"Oh my gosh, hi Bruno! What brings you here?" I excitedly proclaim.

"I'm just visiting my uncle. I want to talk to him just to catch up and to maybe get some recommendations for Philly hotspots," he says.

"That's awesome! I was just about to go out for grocery shopping."

"Ah, cool. I'll be coming to the cafe next week. My uncle Juan told me that he really likes it as well," he responds with a smile. Hmm, Juan. I believe he does come to the cafe every now and then. Sometimes he also comes to the hotel pool.

"Oh, that's great! Can't wait to see you there. How do you like Philly so far?" I ask, curious about his opinion of his newfound part-time home.

"It's very nice. I love the view I have in my apartment, and I just can't wait to see the iconic tourist spots." he says.

"Oh, you've gotta see the iconic tourist spots. The Liberty Bell, the Rocky Statue, you name it."

"Yes, yes... I've always loved the Rocky movies growing up," he proclaims, putting his hands in his pockets.

"Me too!!! I mean, growing up in Philly how can you not?" I responds with a laugh.

"Right, right. Well, I'll see you soon. Wait, what days do you work at the cafe?" I ask.

"Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-5, and Fridays from 1-6."

"Awesome. I'll keep that in mind. See you soon!" I proclaim.

"See ya!"

Damn, it was really refreshing seeing him today. And to know that he was just as excited to see me? That really means a lot. Who knows, maybe we're even gonna form a friendship. It's all so unbelievable. The Bruno Mars, excited to see me? It's so unreal. But hey, I'm not complaining.

My feet pitter patter along the sidewalk on my way to the grocery store, but I hear my phone ding. My hand glides over to my pocket, grabbing it to see who it is.

It's Charlie.

Hey Amber, could we get together soon? We should talk. The text reads.

Oh boy.
