A week has passed, and I'm still shocked about what happened to me. I mean, yes, Charlie had been acting weird lately, but I never thought he would stoop that low. I mean come on. Thank God Bruno was there to save me, or else I would've been completely violated and I don't even wanna think about the circumstances of that unfortunate possibility. I reported Charlie to the police, and I'm glad I did. Not just for me, but for other women that he could possibly put in danger as well.
I've been trying to take my mind off of the situation, and Bruno has been such a huge help. I'm still going to work and such, and have been trying to take more time for myself by committing to hobbies and even some meditation just to get my mind off of it. Right now I'm just chilling in my apartment in my pajamas, drinking some tea.
I'm starting to increasingly enjoy Bruno's company. Ever since I met him, I've just been so much happier; he's just so sweet and fun to be around...not to mention that I still can't process the fact that I'm good friends with a rising pop star. I felt so honored to hear him perform an unreleased song for me. What an incredible voice he has. That's what not only this generation needs but what the music world needs.
I decide to text my sister Dahlia. Last time we talked was Labor Day, and that was around a month ago.
Me:
Hey girl, how have you been?
Dahlia:
Heyyy! Nice to hear from you. So... how's it going with Bruno? 😏
Me: Of course you ask that 😂 We're pretty good. If only he'd break up with his girlfriend 🥲
Dahlia:
Speaking of which, did you hear about that rooftop party coming up at the end of the month at Urban Indulgence? Crystal invited me.
Me: YES! Bruno actually invited me!
Dahlia:
Awesome! I guess we'll see each other there.
Me: Yeah! Hey, Dahlia... listen, I just really wanted someone to talk to after something serious happened to me last week.
Dahlia:
Oh, no... do you want me to come over? We can talk, I have time.
Me: Yes, aw, I appreciate it girl💓
Dahlia:
No problem, sis😙 be there soon
I decide to just kick back and read for a bit, until I eventually hear Dahlia knocking on my door. It's just been so long since I've had legit family time. I open the door and Dahlia and I embrace.
"It's been so long! I'm so glad we're finally getting to spend some time together," Dahlia claims.
"That's exactly what I was thinking," I responded back with a laugh.
I lead her over to the coffee table in the living room, and she begins to ask me what happened and why I seemed a bit off, so I tell her everything. About how Charlie was showing all these weird signs. About the walk home, the attempted assault; and how Bruno saved me and comforted me thereafter.
"Oh my gosh, Amber!" She replies and pulls me in a hug. "I had no idea! I'm so glad Bruno was there. The fact that he was planning on stopping over the same time Charlie attacked was definitely a Godsend."
"Yes, definitely. Thank Heaven for real."
"You know, Charlie has always kinda given me weird vibes. You reported him right?"
"Yes, of course I did. I wouldn't want this to happen to any other women," I elucidated.
"Ugh, what a shame it is that women have to go through this," she replies angrily.
"Tell me about it."
"He still works at that nightclub?" She asks.
"As far as I know, yes, but last I heard he was getting in trouble. I'm not going there as long as he's working there."
"Nah, I wouldn't either. And besides, we live in the city. There's plenty of other clubs to go to."
"Yep."
"How's everything else been? Work? Friends?" She asks.
"Work's been good, we put up Fall decorations and came out with our Fall desserts. The copywriting job has been good as well, just 15-20 hours a week. It's so nice having a remote job and a job down the street."
"I bet."
"How have you been? How are mom and that asshole?"
"Eh, same old crap."
"Yeah, I'm sure... What a shame it is that he had to ruin the family."
"For real. Hey... about Bruno, how's it going with the two of you?"
"Haha... well, he has a girlfriend, but I don't know, there's just this deep connection between us that I just can't pinpoint. I mean, I know there's something there, but I don't know how to enact it. I do have feelings for him and I believe he feels the same, so it's all I can do to let fate decide at this point," I reflect.
"I can't believe my sister managed to pull a pop star! Well, just try to develop your friendship with him more and see how it goes," she says with a smile.
"Thanks, sis. I really appreciate you coming here. And thanks for the advice. I can only hope that something will happen soon with Bruno. He doesn't even seem happy with his girlfriend, anyway" I respond.
"Don't worry. I'll be there at the party," she says with a wink.
"You're the best, Dahlia. Love you."
"Love you too, girl."
...
I'm sitting on my bed looking at my laptop, late in the evening, with the moonlight pouring through my window and cars honking through my window, the city night in full bloom.
I'm so thankful that Dahlia came by today. I really needed some sister time, and I'm so grateful that I have a sister who is close to me instead of one who doesn't care or is distant. Ever since what happened, it's sort of dawned on me that I should be admiring the people in my life more, and how their actions positively impact me on a day-to-day basis. It really is a blessing to have good people in your life. Every day is a blessing.
I'm scrolling on my laptop, and I've henceforth decided that I want to go somewhere to relax a bit after a lot has happened lately. For some reason, ever since I was little, I've loved to do Fall activities; hayrides, mazes, and such. As much as I love being in the city, sometimes it is nice to get away for a bit and be in a calmer area. I'm looking for farm activities near me, and I spotted one in the town Harvest Meadows called Countryside Beauty; around an hour and a half away, which will be happening October 20th, about two weeks from now. The description says that they have a hayride, a maze, a pumpkin patch, and farm animals. Ah man, it'll feel so nice to be in the countryside and soak up some Autumn scenery.
Let's see who I'll be inviting...
