December 31st, 2010

It's finally the day where Bruno and I get to start our NYC vacation together! It's also the day where I can't believe 2010 is almost over... damn. A whole new decade will be starting! What an incredible year it was for me. So much in my life has been changed and added, and I'm not complaining at all about all the wonderful additions that have been added to it, and what destiny and fate have sent my way.

My suitcase is ready, and Bruno and I told each other we'd meet at the hotel in the afternoon at around 3, so I'm gonna be driving over around lunch. Good thing I didn't need to pack too much since we'll only be there for a few days. I live around 2-3 hours from NYC, depending on traffic. Most of our plans are gonna be at night anyway, so it makes more sense to meet there in the afternoon leading into the evening. I really have good feelings about this trip... especially since Bruno promised me that he would prove to me how much he wanted to be with me when we got there. I can only imagine what awaits us, and I can't wait to find out.

I check my phone, and I receive texts from my mom, Dahlia, Chloe, and Amari all wishing me a fun and safe trip with Bruno in addition to a Happy New Years' Eve, but to not have "too much" fun. I laughingly tell them thank you as they begin to tell me how lucky I am that I'm going on vacation with Bruno Mars.

Hopefully I'll be as lucky as I think I am tonight.

It's around 8:30 AM, but I decide to have lunch around 11:30 so I can leave at 12 and get a headstart on traffic. Driving in New York isn't exactly the most tranquil thing in the world, but I've done it in the past. And besides, I have experience with driving in the city anyway.

I head over to my couch and decide to listen to some music in order to relax myself a bit and calm down my nerves, whilst looking at the city view. City views are so damn gorgeous. I ponder upon all of our plans tonight; Times Square shopping, the Empire State Building, and watching the ball drop.

My phone rings and I check the caller ID; it's Bruno.

"Heyyy, Amber! Happy New Years' Eve! Excited?" He asks, as I notice he's at the airport, his chestnut hair curly and his warm eyes so joyful.

"Yes, of course I am! Happy New Years' Eve to you too!" I reply.

"Believe me, it'll be a memorable one," he quotes.

"Yep!" I respond, still curious.

"My flight will be leaving in an hour, so I'll arrive in NYC at around 3:30-4:00."

"Awesome! I'll be leaving my house at around 12:00, so I'll be arriving at Emerald View at around 3:00."

"Nice, you can get ahead of time in getting settled in," he adds.

"Yep, I'll be waiting for you though," I respond.

"Of course. Excited to see Kesha and Taio Cruz?" He asks.

"Duh, of course!" I begin to smile.

"There's gonna be so many people, damn, I've actually never been in Times Square on New Years' Eve," he quotes.

"It's so fun, believe me. It'll be a night to remember," I add.

"Oh, it'll definitely be...hey look, I gotta head over to my terminal. I'll see you in the Big Apple" he smiles.

"See you," I smile.

I hang up and decide to listen to some more music, and wait until it's time to head over to the Big Apple for the vacation of my dreams.

...

It is 3:20 PM, and I have arrived at Emerald View Hotel in Times Square; the huge lights, monuments, and billboards of the wondrous city flood my senses as they penetrate into my gaze; everywhere I look there is history to be seen, and a story to be told, a showcase waiting to be unveiled by the illuminated lights.
